Beautifully done. I would never have recognized Redgrave, But what repulsive characters! Good riddance to Hedda Gabler. Worthless woman.

I was just listening to an interview with Bette Davis and she and the interviewer said that this was terrible and that tv would never allow enough time to rehearse in order to do this justice. And Hollywood would never make Hedda gabler (which turned out to be true). So I’m gonna watch this now and see if they’re right. .

A story that will never did in memory. An exemplary story for young lives not limited to A/L exam. Favorite drama in the drama syllabus is dall's house. 👍👍

Ralph Richardson is always a viewing must always understated and steals scenes at will.

Wonderful actors, but ten years earlier they would have closer to the right age.

I love Ingrid Bergman. Many years ago, I remember my dear old mum sharing that she believed Ingrid Bergman to be really beautiful. Not much of an anecdote I know - but I cast my mind back to my mum every time I watch an Ingrid movie, she is one of the greats. Regards, Dave x

Ingrid is my all-time favorite actress. To date I've seen Casablanca, Notorious, Indiscreet, Anastasia, A woman called Golda, Gaslight, Spellbound, The Inn of he sixth happiness, A walk in the spring rain and Goodbye again. She was phenomenal in Gaslight! Okay now I'm going to watch Hedda Gabler.

This is amazing. I'm glad I've finally seen this. I love seeing Ingrid Bergman cast against type as a duplicitous anti-heroine. Her Hedda is fascinating. The rest of the cast is excellent too. I particularly Trevor Howard and Sir Michael Redgrave as their characters too. This is a masterpiece. Definitely one I'll be rewatching again. A compelling melodrama and fantastic adaptation of one of the greatest plays ever written.

Wow, what a cornucopia of heavyweight acting talent was on display in this: Michael Redgrave, Ralph Richardson, Trevor Howard, Ingrid Bergman...

You have to give it to Bergman though. English was not her native tongue and yet here she is giving a sublime performance in a second language. What an amazing actress she was.

Love the divine Ingrid...but who doesnt...? She was made to interpret Ibsen's sociopathic anti-heroine---So beautiful, so bored, so destructive ! Redgrave is marvelous in this variation of Crocker - Harris in The Browning Version (51). Such an uptight and nervous Beta, one thinks he needs a good BJ to unwind ! Thanks for uploading this video legacy.

Am I the only person who things these people are all too mature for these roles? All of them fabulous acting… especially Michael Redgrave…. Ralph Richardson is always wonderful.

But Ingrid here, is only ok. And I’m not sure if it’s her, or the writing, or the style of acting. This theatrical style seems awkward. I’d rather see these actors acting in a usual movie acting style.

Anyway… I know the role is a tour de force for female actresses.

Not fond of the music.

How searing and intimate a TV adaptation of the theatre can be ! All the force and power and not even stalls with other people to beware of in the dark. Glorious. I loved Ralph
Richardson here showing why he is a great artist and making me yearn for more.

To be able to watch a classic like this..seems so Incredible..with stars like Ralph Richardson and the
legendary Ingrid Bergman.
Wanted so much to follow each nuance of the dialogue.. but alas
no subtitles...
So much flavour is lost when u are grappling with words that don't sound clear.
Could this be rectified?
