I wish they were more books with "don't panic" printed in printed large letter on their cover

Don't care what anyone says! This was a darn good movie. Yes, it took some liberties and pulled some omissions. But it's the same thing as looking at James Gunn's work with Guardians of The Galaxy. The different interpretation WORKED! I honestly wish we'd have gotten at least one more of the books done like this.

I am happy, because now the rich elites who often run over people houses illegally or just say "you where told years ago" when the news was mainly hiding, it ironic in the last 5 seconds that just hit them, i be like that old guy having coffee absolute chad

This was an amiable enough film, considering it was stuck in production hell for more than two decades. Problem was it needed a true 'artisté' to direct it, a Tim Burton or Terry Gilliam..

The way they keep pummeling you with those orchestral hits as the camera pans back 30 times. Spot on sendup of a somewhat tired cinema trope.

Finally a movie where the earth will get blown up in the next 5 minutes and someone gives good advice for what to do. I wouldn't cover my head with a paper bag but i would definitely lie down, listen to music and relax instead of running around screaming like a headless chicken, which would be waste of 5 minutes

I watched this as a kid, long before I knew it was ever a book. I havent read the book yet, but this has always been one of my family's favorite movies, and I love it for what it is, regardless of how well it adapted its source material. On its own, its such a good movie.

I love this film so much. I know there's naysayers who say "it deviates too much from the source material" (it really doesn't. It's actually fairly spot on for the most part, and even the new parts or parts that deviate from the book were written by Douglas Adams himself, specifically for the film!) but there's so much about it that's just perfect!

I mean, the casting, for one! Martin Freeman, Mos Def, Stephen Fry, Sam Rockwell, Zooey Deschanel, John Malkovich, Bill Nighy, Alan Rickman as Marvin, (even Warwick Davis is inside the costume!).....cameos from Bill Bailey, Helen Mirren and the League of Gentlemen....you couldn't piece together a more perfect cast if you tried!

It's utterly criminal that that cast never got to make the planned sequels! It could have been the greatest (and only) 5-film trilogy ever made!

I think the very best version of the HHGTTG is the one it was written for - the BBC Radio 4 version in half hour episodes with the help of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Even in the late 1970s FM sound radio smashed this one out of the ballpark, from 1980 on, being one of the first radio shows to be mixed into four-channel Dolby Surround Sound. The books, films, cassette versions, cds, stageplays, games, comic books, tv version, dvds, film and towel came later.

Really can't get into this film. Loved the radio shows, books, audio books, and mini-series but never did care for the movie. I am glad to see it has a loyal fanbase and introduced a younger crowd to as least some elements of the original and it is no less valid than the others since it did delve into the entire multiverse concepts and had Earth in a plural zone.
