Rehashed arguments that have long been regurgitated and addressed. Not surprised from someone who “studied it for a year.”
ОтветитьI think for argument #9 the question is, did the early church consider it a possibility that God has given other infallible rules other than Scripture? We would only expect an affirmation of Sola Scriptura if other infallible rules were being proposed. I do think #9 is a valid argument especially later in the early church where it seems that church fathers thought any position held by the church broadly and consistently must be true.
But I do see 1 Clement as affirmational of a Sola Scriptura kind of worldview. Clement is addressing an issue in the Corinthian church grounded in issues of authority, but he does so in a very humble and exhortational way, drawing from Scripture and pointing the church to the authority of Scripture and the words of Christ
I appreciate the work that goes into presenting a thorough argument. The most valid arguments seemed to me to be 9,8 and 3
ОтветитьSola Scriptura--"The Bible is the only book that is divinely infused to change heart and minds towards belief.".
ОтветитьPretending that there has never been fragmentation within the Catholic Church is hilariously naive or duplicitous.
Pretending that a certain amount of fragmentation was never present in Holy Scripture is also naive or duplicitous.
"Peter, I rebuke you to your face."
"Barnabus, no I don't want him coming."
"Corinth, you Spirit-filled beluevers! Stop being so cosmopolitan about the man sleeping with his step mom!!"
"Hey! Each of you are free to celebrate and eat what you think best."
If private interpretation is terrifying, then why aren't you an Augustinian determinist?
ОтветитьCameron. Do you believe that there was cumulative corruption that negated Catholic authority? Do you adhere to indulgences? Why or why not?
ОтветитьCommunities are made of individuals
ОтветитьThe difference between Paul and Pope, Paul was FULL of the HOLY GH9ST.
ОтветитьI’m sure the weakminded will enjoy your analysis, oblivious to its incomplete considerations and logical fallacies. I appreciate that you seem to honestly be pursuing truth and, assuming you continue, will realize that you have not found your destination. God bless.
Ответить👍
ОтветитьI would like to see some official Catholic commentary (with imprimatur) to the Scriptures.
ОтветитьHonestly, not to be rude but for a year of study, this all just seems to be the basic Catholic objections plus the debunked 30,000 denominations account. Also, this may sound crazy, but the way of argumentation to me sounds just like how Muslims argue for their Koran, "A perfect God would (not) allow such and such..." Anyways, I remain unconvinced but thanks for the vid
ОтветитьI agree with the arguments, and I would add that it doesn't just point to the catholic church. It gives additional credence to the claims of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I find it really odd that catholics don't believe in modern day revelation or in additional scripture. The Book of Mormon is precisely the same thing that the Bible is, just preached to a different part of the world. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ believe that there are additional scriptures that were written as well, and we look forward to the day that those will be revealed.
ОтветитьI think you should debate Mike Winger on this.
ОтветитьSola Scriptura is the master reference based on the assumption that the word of God and particularly Jesus is perfect and infallible. To be clear that doesn’t make translations infallible to only the original work (which we don’t have). Everything else is derived from the apostolic writings.
The oral teachings from Paul further prove this because Paul was an APOSTLE. So regardless of his writings we believe his teaching is in line.
Roman Catholics love to use circular reasoning to backup traditions. Just look at the Marian Dogmas. None of them have a biblical basis or evidence for being truthful. Yet are widely believed and accepted. Humans make mistakes and are fallible so really on human tradition and choice create error and corruption period. Catholics love saying they know it’s right because their own leaders say it’s right. That’s not a logical evidentiary conclusion.
This is just a very surface level argumentation summary that’s been done 100times over
ОтветитьI honestly would love to know how Cameron thinks people were saved before the Catholic Church and why no one today can be saved outside of the Catholic Church. If the argument is we can be saved outside of the Catholic Church, then what is the point of being Catholic.
Honest questions. God bless.
STM is a modified sola scriptura.
There are no apostles and prophets in either. As an LDS member I applaud your arguments even though they don’t exactly support your conclusion. 😉
excellent video Cameron! I love the direction and growth your channel has. One of the best takes on sola scriptura I have seen. God bless
Ответить#1 If true then the same could be said about the Papacy.
ОтветитьPresuppositional apologetics is sola scriptura. The bible is self interpreting and self authenticating. This is demonstrably true.
ОтветитьAbsolute childish garbage take as usual. It is clear you did not spend any time studying the actual arguments but simply regurgitated basic roman catholic talking points that have been asked and answered for 500 years.
ОтветитьNever was a fan of the channel. Then he became Catholic so it makes sense now! Came here because James White and Eli Ayala did a reaction to this and I had to see if what they were saying about the video is true. Hopefully not because sounded like terrible arguments
Ответить"Check out these 9 refined and perfected arguments that destroy Sola Scriptura." Proceeds to give the surface level objections that have been used since the time of the Reformation, without grappling with counterobjections
ОтветитьUnfortunately this is how you know Cameron is wrong about Protestants is because he puts their beliefs down so gleefully. If someone is in error you should be sorrowfully. You should be genuinely concerned for them.
ОтветитьAlmost a whole year?!?! Wow! 😂😂😂😂
Ответитьnow this is getting just sad. Very poor surface level arguments.
ОтветитьThese arguments were laughably bad, are you going to do a response to Dr. White?
ОтветитьThis just screams, "I used chatgpt to come up with every argument and refutation against sola scriptura." Literally, none of these arguments are new or knock down.
ОтветитьA whole year? You must be an expert by now?
JK, this video is actually really bad and was probably your worse video.
Everyone still putting aside my credits of them if you like his ministry, you definitely should support it. He's doing what God has called him to do in his view, and there are partners that need to financially invest in it.
Ответитьnice presentation, this is cherry picking though,... The Apostle in the council of Jerusalem came to there "tradition by going back to the scriptures" given the error came from the followers of James
ОтветитьThanks GOD for your life my brother, I like the STM system and it will be nice to inform you sir that we have it in the Protestant church too, but we know that tradition is only eternally valid if it has it roots in scripture. ( Sales of indulgence, purgatory, Veneration of Saints, confession to a priest. E.t.c.) help me see how this takes its root in scriptures
ОтветитьThe arguments you use against the Protestants can be used against Catholicism too, who made it a law that revelations/apocalypse was the final inspired book, who made it a law to create (open and close ) The New Testament. By your argument... The Book should still be opened since all words from the magistrates mouth should be taken as the words from GOD, and we should give the same authority to the Papacy as is given to the Apostles but in your case ( take all the power and authority from the apostles and give it to Peter... And since we are the direct successors of Peter ( give that power to us).
ОтветитьJust came across your channel. I can tell you are sincere, but you come off very angry at "Protestants".. It is a very passive aggressive style. Also, so if I studied it for 366 days it is more solid? Still, you can tell that you really tried hard. Thanks I don't understand how you so over simplistically lump every non-Catholic as a "PROTESTANT"? I would assume that you have too from the church. Will work on your points. Thanks for the episode.
ОтветитьYou have never heard these arguments before…. Most hackneyed and old arguments you have ever heard
ОтветитьI can't take you objectively Cameron when you say differences within Protestantism are 'irreconcilable' while similar disagreements within Catholicism are 'diverse spiritual traditions'
Ответитьfrom 1 year of research?
ОтветитьI think bro actually spent 1 minute reading instagram comments to make this embarrassment of a video. You started off in the most meme way possible by citing the 40 thousand million billion denomination falacy. You lost all credibility when you said a "Marian apparition" is better evidence for Christianity than Jesus' resurrection. I'll pray for you.
ОтветитьPraise God for our Catholic faith
ОтветитьThis is cheeks.
ОтветитьTo me it’s not about “sola scriptura”, it’s about… donta contradicta scriptura? (Not sure what the Latin would be 😂)
In other words, I’m perfectly fine with tradition, and even tradition having some authority, but seeing as how Catholics and Protestants BOTH believe scripture is the Word of God, that means anyone who contradicts it must be incorrect, even if they’re claiming God’s authority to do so.
so much for 'mere Christianity'
ОтветитьTOTAL CATHOLIC VICTORY
ОтветитьProtestants are the most enraged people on the planet next to Muslims. Makes sense since they have a lot in common
ОтветитьI've caught a few people in the comments trying to use ChatGPT to respond to my video. One guy clearly just uploaded my transcript and told it to respond, lol.
I've got news for you guys, I use it too. It's a great tool. I often use it to check my arguments and catch things I'm not seeing. As such, I know exactly what it has to say in response to my arguments. The responses are no good. If you want to provide a good response, you're going to need to do it the old fashioned way: with your brain.
