Hi, could you give me a piece of advice? I have two EMG 89s, and I would like to use one of them as the 89R in the neck position. Which means that it needs to be installed upside down. Can it be done this way? The idea is to get only the outer coils live in the split mode. Will the upside-down position make any difference to the sound (either in the humbucker mode or the single coil mode?

I did this exact thing on my AIO Les Paul. 57/66 set super easy best thing I could have done. Now I can swap out whatever EMG pickup I want without soldering anything. It's amazing.

I got the 81/85, but only ONE VOLUME and ONE TONE knob, with a 3 way selector switch...first EMG pickup was soldered on 10yrs ago, now I go the solderless ones with the buss and everything...way too confused.

I’d rather solder than deal with those tiny connectors. But I can see why this would appeal to some.

I'm very confused where the tremolo ground wire goes. I have the EMG 3 way solderless switch with 1 volume pot and 1 tone pot. I just don't understand how the tremolo ground wire attaches to the switch sense its supposed to be solderless. Do I just not use it? I'm a newbie to this haha,

This set up isn't working for me. I get no pickup output sound when jack plug installed. If plug is only half way in Both pickups make sound regardless of selector switch position. I even wired up a different stereo jack just confirm it wasn't the jack

Are EMG's the only solderless pickups available? They're way too expensive for my needs and soldering isn't an option for me. I gutted a cheap guitar thinking it shouldn't be too expensive to replace the internals but ordering a solderless humbucker alone will cost more than the price I paid for the entire guitar itself and that's not including the solderless kit lol

This would have been extremely easy for me to do on my Gibson SG Gothic Morte, but the "Stereo Output Jack" is too short to fit all the way through the body. There is no EMG option one can even order. I have to use the Gibson one, which does not connect the same, and will require me to solder, something I'm terrible at. :(

You just ruined a perfectly great Gibson Guitar! You would have been better to install two positions pots for phase variations on the pick-ups! Also a 24 volt power supply for the active pick-ups! The original PAFs are so much better tone wise! Reissue 59s by Gibson would be the best selection! Wanna sell the OE pickups and OE pots? No, I don't blame you. You'll be putting them back in!!!! LMAO 😂 ✌🏻

Ok, I bought a EMG 57 it came with solderless wiring setup. Up until my soldered system crapped I switched to the provided solderless assuming it’d be great. Unfortunately it sounds muffled unlike previous setup. I followed instructions verbatim but it still lacks the high end tone you’d expect. To get a sense of what I’m saying, the guitar tone sounds like the tone knob is rolled back completely but it isn’t. What is the problem here? Any suggestions?
