Excellent.
ОтветитьAlso the Liverpool astronomical society is the oldest in the world.
There's also two big reservoirs dug out of the sandstone in the same area right behind the observatory.
Good to see you back and I love the tunes.
A couple of my friends got pulled up on the observatory car park some years back. They also used to go there to smoke fags😁
Thanks for the Bimble, now I know why you were at Cronton on Sunday
ОтветитьGood to see you are out and about mate. On our patch too at Earlestown as well. Great Bimble as always.. top info
ОтветитьSUPERB 🎉
ОтветитьGreat video, great music, great voice. Best wishes Pete. PS I just wondered if you received my donation a couple of weeks ago. I'm don't know if it went through. If it didn't I send it again.
ОтветитьBeen PEX hill a few times good to see you back mate
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьHow good is this 😊
Fascinating local history very well researched
Well done Mr Bimble
Nice little tour
ОтветитьYou forgot to mention the first railway accident happened on the same day as the Rainhill Trials. There is a monument to Thomas Huskisson who sadly died after being hit by Rocket, just east of Parkside Rd[A573] near Newton le Willows. It can only be seen from the train and only really clearly in winter. Unless you have a drone of course....
ОтветитьGood stuff pal.👍🚴
ОтветитьBrilliant as always 👍
Skew bridge is at the Liverpool end of Rainhill station platform.
It’s grade II listed & built using sandstone from the local quarry.
It’s the first skew road bridge over a railway in the world & was also a first for the 34 degree angle it was built (hence the name ‘skew’).
Good to see you back Keiran, as entertaining and informative as ever. :-) (I always watch but don't always comment as I tend to repeat myself!) Al Kennett.
ОтветитьI use that line too get Liverpool or Manchester. My station is Lea Green
Ответить? whats a bimble ?
Ответитьfinally on my home turf. you went past my house near ship. which i knew could of taken you a short cut to pexhill round back of manor farm pub(which has a good history too.) many thanks
ОтветитьYou could have mentioned the vulcan foundry and vulcan village, which came into existence as a result of Stephenson winning the contract to produce locos for the L&M railway.
ОтветитьGreat viewing - thank you...
Ответить..."higher praise than that: been used in Hollyoaks twice..." lol. Glad you are well and recovered 🙂Best Tony (Garston).

ОтветитьLucky enough to have worked on that track many times , from rainhill to Astley box was on our patch at network rail
ОтветитьMINT!
ОтветитьI live in Cronton, lovely to see the quarry on your vlog.
ОтветитьNear the quarry in Rainhill there’s a stone cross and it’s rumoured to be the grave of Oliver Cromwell’s favourite horse 🐎
ОтветитьThank you 🇨🇦
ОтветитьPity you couldn't get inside St. Bart, it's incredible 😊
ОтветитьIn St Bart’s church yard there is a large memorial to Evelyn, Princess Blücher, daughter of Frederick Stapleton-Bretherton, who married Prince Blücher, G G grandson of Marshal “Vorwärts” Blücher of Waterloo fame. She wrote a memoir of her exile to Berlin during WW1 called “An English Wife in Berlin”
ОтветитьCracking Bimble, as usual. 🚴🏻♀️🎼🎙️
ОтветитьI got married in St Bart’s 25-years ago. Its stunning inside
ОтветитьUsed to live around that area and kids went to Tower College. Never knew about the quarry! How about doing Prescot sometime? Lots of history and a very nice church to see
ОтветитьGreat to have you back, I was starting to worry.
ОтветитьHello we are coming to watch you on the 28th in Warrington. Can we sing along or is it fingers on lips x
ОтветитьBobbie Goulding used to live on the close behind St Barts church I think.
ОтветитьReally enjoyed this. Have lived in Rainhill for the past 25 years and love the place.
Also loved the music, who is it please, would like to have a listen
