Ford C-MAX MPV review - CarBuyer

I take the seats out of my 2006 c-Max Ghia 2L petrol which is easy and gives a flat load area, so the 2010 > must be different.
Very pleased with mine; 145bhp, economical and good to drive too....no complaints so far.

While it’s normally very quiet, at motorway speeds you get this annoying whistle off the side of the door here, it’s right in your ear. Actually, I’ve got some other things that I wanna have a moan about.

It’s a bad car... at least for the passengers the rear are uncomfortable and the ride isn’t good either, it’s only good to drive

can't slide the seats? dude, remove the middle seat and the seats slide backwards and Inwards, creating loads of legspace. or is that another variant/year model?

I thought my 2013 C-MAX would be a Prius Killer? NOT! I want to support US companies and US jobs. What was Ford thinking when they published 47/ 47/47 estimates? I would have been ok with low 40's but 28-33 is not even in the ballpark. I lease both a 2010 Prius and 2010 Honda Insight and consider myself an experienced hyper-miler. My mileage in the Prius is 50 plus, the Insight is 40 plus, The C-MAX is a great car, with extremely inflated EPA posted estimates.

it should be 44city 34 hwy 40 combined and the fusion hybrid should be 44city 37hwy 41 combined

another C-Max rvw ...another lie of MPG. Ford 37 MPG City, 37 mpg hwy, 37 combine. Thats a fact...not their fantasy 47mpg.

The steering system uses the latest in voice recognition technology: Regional Accent Algorthymics, designed by Microsoft exclusively for Ford. You simply start speaking – in any language - and the RAA program is activated. It checks your accent against a linguistic database and moves the steering system to the side of the car your accent indicates is appropriate. In this case, RAA correctly heard a British accent and moved the steering system to the right side of the car.

I love this car. Drives as smooth as my Accord but gets way better gas mileage. It is not a well refined automobile in the sense of spending 60k like you would on a BMW but for the money and the competition against the PRIUS, I will take this all day long. Looks good, and drives great. GO FORD!!!!!!!! Great investment into the American Auto Industry. Step aside all you Japanese and Korean auto makers. Ford has the best line up of vehicles.

I just drove a thousand miles in one of these and I overall liked the car, but I hav one pretty major complaint - the seats. The side-supports in the cusions are just to firm and the cusion itself is to small so I got very tired in my bottom and feet. For this reason I would not buy this one.

was dithering whether to go for this, a mondeo or a Golf, thanks to this (great) review I can see that my fears were founded, it looks as pokey as hell and wouldn't suit my brood and mutt at all.

I have one of these and this review I would agree with 100%. Not sure I would call it a people carrier...it is not like the picaso and van styles it is more like a huge hatchback - looks/feels/drives like that also. For the money now down to £16k on Zetec Diesel it is pretty much for me top of its class. Pragmatic family car this one. It is just a big focus so you get all the focus goodness in a car a family can actually fit in.

Well, one would say that after test driving all the other cars in it's class the C-max is the best overall, so enjoy driving your heap of junk to and from work. :) Oh, just so you know, the c-max and grand c-max are all based directly upon a Ford Focus platform, wheras Ford own Mazda, so the chasis etc are similar, but different to that of the C-max, thus making the C-max more enjoyable to drive. Good day.

"i don't think the C-max's rear seats are as clever as some of it's rivals..." lol joke, u seen how intelligent the Grand c-max's seats are! if you want a C-max with intelligent rear seats get the Grand C-max, the middle seat folds into the left seat!

the Mazda 5 is shitty.

They made it worse than the pedecessor. Old C-Max had hydraulic steering, flat boot floor and in the Ghia model, back seats did move backwards

@BadRoBi10 - Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, the orange-like Mars Red was my 2nd option, after LimeLight. But it turns out that Ford will bring back the LimeLight on November 28th. :) They moved my car's production date from 25th to 30th. So... I will have it in LimeLight.

They've discontinued the LimeLight color for C-max. :(( I've ordered a limelight 2 weeks ago, was due to be delivered on December 10th, but they called me yesterday to ask me to change the color. I'm very disappointed.

It's Dark Micastone color, I think. I've been flirting with C-Max for the past 2 months, had to go buy it yesterday, couldn't, will go on monday. The color is still a big issue to me. Can't make up my mind. :) 2:35 About the back seats, there's no "boot step" on the drive-test C-Max in Romania. Plus, the rear seats DO SLIDE back'n forth on Titanium version. You lift up the small seat in the middle, push it back, you get two seats (like the front ones) that slide back and a little to the center.

i don't understant the "boot step" on min 3:00. I own a 2007 CMax and I don't have that step. I went to the local dealer to see the new Cmax (compact) and it doesn't have that step shown in the video.

As a matter of fact, according to Car and Driver and Ford USA, we are getting the Grand C-Max only, not the regular one seen here.
