On all modern GPUs there's a setting which can increase performance substantially, but surprisingly it's usually off by default.
In order to turn it on just head to your BIOS
Go to the “Advanced” tab.
Search for “PCI Configuration”.
Enable “Above 4G Decoding” & “Resize-BAR Support”.
And now your PC should be giving you higher FPS in games that support it. So if you built or bought a new PC don’t forget…
My pc won’t turn on anymore because of this fk bar option
ОтветитьFUN FACT: If you have an NVIDIA GPU this most likely will make all of your drives undetectable and you wont be able to boot into anything until you turn them off again! Pretty neat if you want to waste 10 - 20min off your time! Unsubscribe for LESS FUN FACTS!
ОтветитьFYI, Enabling re-sizable BAR on my MSI board and RX 5700 XT forced me to short the jumper to reset the BIOS to default settings. As in, it wouldn't detect my video card. So don't just set this willy nilly.
ОтветитьMine is grayed out
ОтветитьWarning: rebar is not compatible with CSM.
ОтветитьWhy are all of these videos for the asus Bios... i want to enable this to, but no turtorial seem to help :/
Ответитьwith out 4g and resizable bar i have 290fps when i enble 4g and Resizable bar my fps go down to 65
ОтветитьMake sure you have supporting parts ie CPU and it's only for Nvidia cards
ОтветитьCant find resizabel bar on my AMD bios.. any tips?
ОтветитьWelp, enabling above 4g decoding made my screen go black even when going to the BIOS, any help anyone?
Ответитьabove 4G decoding is recomended if you had more than 1 GPU installed on your motherboard.
ОтветитьFun Fact:
You can enable this on older generation of GPU's too without any issues.
(it will not give any performance increase, but you can still enable it).
Because 92% of gamers don't have 4g decode
ОтветитьDoesn't work with anything older than 3000 series.
Ответить🤦♂️ this doesnt help in alot of games. And instead of all modern should say current gen and more specific than that nvidia. 10 and 20 series are still modern. Also amd doesnt use resizable bar it uses sam and is cpu/gpu dependent if you can use it i believe mobo as well.
ОтветитьUnhealthy video. It's off for a reason. It can start crashes, stability issues, make games run lowers etc...
Ответитьif ypu have gpu z just check advanced tab and select pcie resizeable bar and you can check if these settings are on
Ответить92% of PC gamer should stay on console
ОтветитьIt doesn't work well with nvidia gpus.
ОтветитьPrediction: XMP
ОтветитьWhy......like why
ОтветитьI understand Re-Bar... but could someone explain the other setting? "Above 4G"
ОтветитьIt’s a pain, there’s a few more settings to change in the UEFI like APIC mode 2x and that works only for newly installed system, so you have to enable that before installing Windows as far as I‘ve read about it.
Ответить92% sounds like a bit of a stretch unless everyone that owns a pc counts since windows comes bloated with all that candy crush and xbox garbage these days
ОтветитьIt's not enabled by default because on NVIDIA GPUs it can cause problems and even make some games run slower. For me it only causes stability problems and nothing else. RTX 3060 is my GPU, so be careful with enabling that thing.
ОтветитьUsing a X570 dark hero, 5900X and a 3080Ti, whenever I’ve enabled it cause massive system instability and crashes!
ОтветитьOmg. Finally good advice from GCH, instead do buy….
ОтветитьIt's usually "aaff" by default
ОтветитьGood looking card
ОтветитьHmm, curious if my X-99 Deluxe even has the Bar option...thinking not. Find out tomorrow after work.
ОтветитьThis is more useful for AMD than it is for Nvidia.
ОтветитьThis made me go through so many loops. Went to enable this in my bios. Found it kept removing my boot drives. Then I enabled csm with bar enabled and borked everything. I thought maybe my bios was bad so I ended up flashing it to the latest version. That didn't help, But then found that for resizable bar you need to use GPT format for booting with it enabled. So I guess I gotta update my OS now so I can enable that. I'll do it eventually when I reinstall windows someday.
However, the bios update did improve my 5950x performance by around 10% my bios revision must have had issues with the cpu
Most new computers with windows 11 come with it enabled by default, it's older computers with windows 10 that don't come enabled.
ОтветитьThank you. This will be useful. And I looked it up as always and it does work.
