Scared feral kitten trusts a human for the first time

I would imagine it more effective to just quietly sit nearby without directly approaching the cat or standing over it, or extending a hand, etc. Just chill for a while and vibe with the animal at a being and limbic level.

Carrying a cat is certainly the best way to get them to trust you more and affectionate towards you, I found. But only after they've warmed up to you. It surprises me that that kitten didn't break skin. Ive had kittens that were born without human contact and would be feral and when I would try and interact with them, they would claw and bite and break skin. I had to wear gloves to protect my hands.

i had a cat several years ago. he was a pure black cat and we named him Coal. He was...honestly not an affectionate cat for most of his life. One time i was sitting on a wall on a planting bed and he came and sat beside me. we looked at each other for a while and then he scratched me hard enough to draw blood, and walked away. He became sick at some point, and then he started to be affectionate. he would come up to you and just lay in your lap hoping for petting. I tried to give him the most comfortable life he could expect, but he did eventually die. He's buried in my backyard under our fig tree. I'm a little hesitant to eat the fruit now because he's in there somewhere, if only in a small way.

My trick, get tuna on a fork. That usually works.

Trust is EARNED, not given and he earned the trust of those wild kittens eventually. Most cats with NASTY attitudes towards people are earned too. Just take a few steps in that babies position as if we as human beings? Suddenly had to deal with a 200 foot tall friendly animal you can't understand save through it's actions and YOUR of the age of a seven year old kid? I say seven because animals mature a heck of a LOT faster than us but that also becomes their learning cap too. This kitten is dealing with a creature that JUST IT'S foot is bigger than him. Getting the picture yet? Darn right you are going full defensive and ANY strikes you can make are gonna be max effort.

Am I the only guy worried about this guy getting rabies or are these in a shelter already and are just acting feral but don’t carry diseases?
