My momma has lupus and even without a filter (like the one used here) her appearance has changed andit breaks my heart because of how ashamed she is of her face. My momma was a model and always gorgeous, she looked like Faith Hill and Sandra Bullock with a curvy, tall body and she was a good mom. She is still beautiful especially considering her age and over 20 years of addiction but the way people who havent seen her in years react like shes a joke becuz shes gained weight and has tooth damage. She is so much more than her physical beauty and even at 50 she is supposed to hold herself to the same standards she did at 25? Come on. Battling lupus and having your own body betray you is hard enough and im just glad my momma isnt famous, having to go thru the ugly parts of life with an audience that laughs at your struggles. People are vile and im ashamed to be one of them sometimes

My best school friend had a kidney transplant. You take so much medication to survive and (try) to make your body not reject that precious (to donor and recipient) kidney. And those medications, the ones that SUSTAIN LIFE, such as steroids, will cause weight gain and cause an extra fullness in the face. i also am someone who is currently clinically depressed because i have to take a medication to stay alive for the rest of my life and it caused me to gain 50 lbs in a couple months as soon as i started taking it. and i began having dental problems also. it’s so difficult and frustrating to have people constantly ask me “omg what happened to you” or “are you pregnant” and “how’d you get that big so fast”??? i can’t even imagine being famous during this time. i have become a total shut in outside of doing car pool to drive my teenage kids to school and football and whatever i literally don’t leave my house at all. i even switched to remote job so no one has to visually see me. and i’m a no body. i just feel so bad for her.
