Why Chrollo Lucilfer is One of the Best Antagonists EVER

Its simple cause Chrollo is HIM

Chrollo kinda feels like Shanks from One Piece but as a Antagonist and someone we still dont know his true Strenght even tho we saw Hisoka vs Chrollo. As we´ve seen he won with Ease as soon as he was not holding back a bit .

With these recent chapters, if Togashi is setting up what I think he is setting up the setting of Kurapika vs Phantom Troupe may become muddier with more information. It can be a very important commentary on how disenfranchised groups are pitted against each other. One group being residents of one of the poorest vulnerable places at one point against the last member of a dying out persecuted minority. I think it can emotionally impact me even more than the last act of the chimera ant arc did.

if they would've continued the anime we would've gotten the second end of kurapika and the spider gang fight after the person removed kurapika nen off chrollo. He's so lovable because the whole time as well we hear all this bad stuff about him and then he lives up to it. Personally that's why I liked him I was like oh shit he's not playing at all 😂. Chrollo is a true villain. No real motives. only does it for his own gain. Doesn't matter how he has to get it he'll get it. All the other villains hesitate that's why they get defeated but Chrollo is still walking around. Bro didn't care to die I was like oh my gawd just hard

And he's only been elevated to a higher level with the new batch. You love to see it when a video ages finer a year later.

When I was watching HxH last year, Chrollo reminded me about Johan Liebert in some ways. They both have similar inner energy, I think (I cannot explain that simply - their personalities are really deep and complicated). In my opinion, they are one of the best antagonist of all times

I watched HXH a couple years back and tbh I didn’t even remember the guy. Can’t be that iconic

I would not say he is the best but he is kinda edgy though that is why Emo kids like him a lot.

I think the kurapika and Kurta clan will end up being the bad guys they've never given a reason why the troupe killed them

Hxh has ruined shonen anime for me. It was so good at subverting cliche tropes and the usual charachter format and dynamic every other show does. Now everytime i start a anime I just notice how cliche and predictable certain things are.

Main charachters being the centerpoint of the world. villains getting introduced as evil but later on you find out they have a altruistic goal and they turn out to not be so bad. power scaling getting higher with every arc with the main charachter keeping up with it somehow. And I can go on

Hxh has set up my expectations so high at the point I can't enjoy anime anymore. I know it's a me thing but i feel bad. Hxh is a blessing but a curse at the same time

For me the most terrifying thing about Chrollo is not his power, intellect or cruelty, it is his appearance.
Other characters Uvogin, Feitan and Phinks have the faces of murderous thugs and therefore anyone with common can see they are monsters.
Chrollo on the other hand has the appearance of a common civilian, his voice is soft and he is able to come off as a kind and harmless person.
It reminds me of monsters in real life like Himmler or Beria that at first glance seem insignificant and can pass as normal people but they are completely hideous and twisted people.

Chrollo always gave me Lovecraftian vibes in the sense that it's what we don't know that makes him scary. He and Hisoka unnerved me far more than Meruem ever did (Not that Meruem isn't a fantastic character).

It makes me curious to know your opinion about the character after the spider's new revealed backstory. I loved that flashback.

I just love how chrollo completely owned hisoka. Yeah, hisoka will kill him because of plot armor, but what chrollo did will never be forgotten. Chrollo even as a little kid with his tape dubbing was larger than life. Hisoka is too respectively. They can't be compared obviously. But chrollo legit managed to own hisoka without any plot armor. Idk, that's something to consider.

If Chrollo is your favorite than you must have loved these last few chapters of Hunter X Hunter. Chapters 395-397. Chrollo’s flashback. Wow were they great chapters. And Chrollo has moved up my favorite characters list. I dont even see him as an antagonist anymore. He’s almost a protagonist. Crazy but true.

Eh. Chrollo is really cool, but I don't know if I'd call him one of the best antagonists ever. He stole some things and flexed on some people. And he looked good doing it. He's entertaining, but we don't really know anything about him, and I don't think he's wreaked a level of havoc worthy of that distinction yet.
