First Look Z790 ROG STRIX -E, -F, -A and -I motherboards for Intel 13th Gen Series CPUs

Has anyone else had a problem with the usb mouse/keyboard freezing for a few seconds on Asus Z790-e motherboard, when logging into windows.

ASUS does not want you to use Noctua coolers, none of their ASUS ROG Z790-A, E, etc, support them because of the beefy heatsinks next to the CPU socket, it's ridiculous !!!!

Are the USB type C ports a separate from the other ports? I guess what I’m trying to say is. Are all the ports in the back using the same bandwidth?

O.M.effen.G ....after nine minutes and 35 seconds I couldn't handle hearing the redundant, useless and point terms "go ahead" and "right here" tooooo many times with the verbal diahrrea and to listen to this clap trap for over an hour is quite unbearable...."right here" I will "go ahead"and say double thumbs down for the commentary no interested in an assault on the auditory canal and peace of mind...sounds best muted and I can concentrate on the z790. Oh my goodness, never again.

Awesome looking board with great features, but after I saw the price I decided to not upgrade for a few years. Everything is way overpriced these days.

I've long been a fan of ASUS products but this year has made me question that loyalty. So far this year I have been through five ASUS motherboards, both Z690 and Z790 e and Maximus Hero, all with RAM memory compatibility issues. Latest BIOS and drivers have not addressed the problem which leads to disconnects, blue screen crashes and failures to post. If that board is also defective I will never buy another ASUS product.
Normally ram is placed in A2 and B2 for dual channel operation but the latest boards have dual channel assignments of any combination of slots and that assignment may change without reason or notice.
Currently I am a very disappointed customer about to jump ship and leave ASUS behind. Very disappointing but I can no longer gamble on getting a motherboard that will post and remain stable.

Didn't know the - (dash) is actually an important naming on the product. I've been ignoring it and replacing it with a space, dunno why considering it's just two keys away from the backspace.

The Rog Strix z790-H seems to be identical to the z790-A, apart from using different audio codecs. Is that correct?

I bought the dash e motherboard and everything is great, although I’m a bit disappointed that the second gpu runs only at x4, instead of splitting both lanes at gen4 8x as the ProArt does.

Ive only bought 1 ROG board and it never worked right, would randomly shut off. Replaced the psu, ram, reseated all the cables, rebuilt it in a different case before swapping motherboards and never had another problem. Never even RMA'd the board because of what i heard about ASUS customer service, its still sitting in the closet. Looking at this board but a bit nervous.

So where's the -H? You guys make too many

Currently I have Maximus x + 8700K@5GHz and I would like an equally good and stable MOtherboard.
Additional equipment is not so important to me, but this power section at Maximus 20+1 vs. Gaming-e 18+1. This is important in overclocking the processor/ RAM/ graphics card?

I just purchased Z790 max. I am trying to understand how to use the audio connectors on the back of the motherboard to connect to a 7.2 AV receiver so I can get full Atmos. But i need to be able to connect from the motherboard directly to the AV receiver. How is this possible. I am using a monitor not a TV so ARC is not possible. If this is not the right place to ask this type of question, where would be the right place?

Currently there is a series H / Z790-H. I can't find any reviews of it... is better than E or less...

How about a review of the ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-H Gaming (WiFi 6E)? It's a little weird no one is talking or reviewing this newer motherboard.

Do the Z790 Strix and Maximus motherboards support the same DDR5 XMP3 and manual overclocking? The specs (up to 7200 MT/s on both) are the same but this doesn't indicate if there is a difference in level of effort, OC stability, or BIOS support.

I just bought the z790-e. If I put the ssd into the m.2_2. And the graphics into the pcei5 slot. Will I get 1x16, 2x8?

each asus rgb led costs 10$ extra... rest is same as other boards, or worse. just get the aorus master for best OC, or asrock taichi for good oc + few extra ports. those are already twice the price, no need to tripple it. most likely you will never use the features those boards have anyway, it's total pro level stuff and requires a deep understanding of voltages and chips to use properly. just to bump the cpu to 6ghz and up the voltage a bit you dont need such boards.

Just let everyone know that Intel 13th gen does not support PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD. Either go with AMD or wait for Intel 14th gen. Also Intel 14th gen will have new architecture and everything so it's best that you wait for Q2-Q3 2023 for Intel 14th gen release.

That's a very nice detailed video!! Thanks for that! I own an i9-13900 and the /F model. I also got a 1TB M2 sdd which has NAND only on the front. Would be better to remove the back heatsink cover from the thermal pad too?

ASUS is the gift that keeps on giving. Smart of them to put 2 holes for LGA 1200/1700 CPU Coolers as well as 13th Gen.

why no backplate on Strix =-(

Hi :) currently i still own a ROG Strix X570 E Gaming , but i plan to switch to an Intel System ( i5 13600 k or i7 13700 k ) for me the most important things would be a solid VRM and Bios Flashback Feature .. would be the ROG Strix A Gaming board enough for me ? as to be honest , most of the Super High Speed Usb Ports i never used by now , only my External USB 2.0 ExtensionCard ^^ . and for the Future might adding a Thunderbolt 4.0 Extension Card . Because the Price Range is quite heavy… for one year Ago i payed 245 € for my X570 E Gaming Board but now it costs almost the double of the Price if i would choose a E Board of Z790 again :( .

First year in 25 years i went with some one other then Asus for my motherboard. your line up is horrible for the 700 series. cheapist board you have with 6 sata's is 630$ im building a MSI system now and going to return my ROG case
