Wow, I am installing one of these today, very timely! You only need one 100/50 unit for (edit: 24v system, yours here is 12v, my bad!) four 325 watt Rec-N-Peak panels if you connect them in series-parallel (two series pairs in parallel). Thanks!
ОтветитьThese two are cheaper than one 60/100 unit...
ОтветитьVery informative of al NAW&S videos, we are wondering if we order complete components from you guys, whether any configuration that we need to do ? Do whole system comes with Electrical Wiring Diagram for our custom selected system? Thanks
ОтветитьNice and quick. Professionally done. It left me with more questions than answers.
ОтветитьOne thing for people to remember with DC circuit breakers, you want the higher potential wire to go into the positive side of the CB. So the positive wires from the solar panels would go into the side of the CB with the + sign and then the wire on the other side of the CB would go to the charge controller. The positive wire to the battery should be connected to the + sign on the CB and the other wire goes to the charge controller. This protects wires if there is a short in the charge controller and the batteries will then have the higher potential. I just learned this recently myself.
ОтветитьHi - considering where to mount my Victron charge controller and found this video very helpful! One question - my manual (for the Smart 100/20) indicates the controller should be mounted on a non-flammable substrate. What are you using for a mounting surface? Thanks!
ОтветитьHey James, question for the Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 100/20-48V is an auto-sensing 12v, 24v and 48v 20 Amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller. Can the load be set to turn on at a lower (12v) than the cut off (14v)? My intent is to wire a speed controller out of the load wired to a 12v motor to operate via chain drive 2x 350w turbine generators wired parallel for 700w ran into the PV port. Ofcourse the battery bank would be ran off of the battery port. This would allow the charge controller to monitor the battery bank and turn the motor on the run the generators to recharge the battery bank and turn off the motor when the battery bank is recharged.
ОтветитьWhy did you change the absorption time down to 1 hour?
ОтветитьCool
ОтветитьSort of hard to see at an angle.
ОтветитьYou say "we're using lithium batteries..." Are you using Li-Ion or LiFePo batteries and does it make a difference? I used the rotary switch set to position 7 for LiFePo4 batteries, of which I have 2 wired in parallel instead of using expert mode. Default settings have equalization off. Do you see any problem with that? Thanks.
ОтветитьBattleborn told me to put a 300 amp fuse at the battery on the positive terminal. Also my panels two, 24V 200w each) wired in series produce a total of 48.6v and the panels are 10.8 amps. If the charge controller is 100/30, do I still need a breaker between the panels and the controller??
ОтветитьQuestion. I have two 200 amp 12 volt lithium batteries running in parallel. In the app, do I set the battery capacity to 200 or 400 amp?
ОтветитьDid you use a bmv7-12 shunt?
ОтветитьDoes this controller need grounding via a copper rod hammered into the ground, in an off grid cabin
ОтветитьYou forgot the ground on the side of the mppt unit….
ОтветитьI wish we could see the wiring better after finishing, or that it was explained better. You have a total of 8 cables (4 each charge controller) and only 4 breakers. Either you are stuffing 2 cables in each breaker or using a negative busbar that is never shown in the video (I'm guessing the latter), is that safe? only using the breakers on the positive side and having all the negatives in one shared connection?
ОтветитьHOW ABOUT HOW YOU WIRED THE CONTROLLER SO THE APP WORKS???
Ответитьexcellent thank you I actually just installed one of these , mppt 100 30
ОтветитьThanks for the informative video. I have an MPPT 150 | 35 hooked up to three 200 solar panels and four AGM model GP-AGM-224 6V batteries. What settings would you recommend?
ОтветитьIf I'm using one Victron 100/50 for 4 290watt panel would I need 2 60amp breakers?
ОтветитьGreatings from Lithuania 🤝.
Ответитьgood job!! in my camper all my devices are victron!! from italy!!
ОтветитьHow does your device cell phone or tablet connect to the charge controller ? Like Bluetooth? I missed something there
ОтветитьWill it be hook up to same system with Renogy DC DC charger? As the Renogy won’t be able to run solar panels in series/parallel. Thanks
ОтветитьHow do I connect to it's Bluetooth
ОтветитьYou forgot to ground the PMPPT controller. And it has to be through ground fault interrupter per code.
ОтветитьIS this for standard Prismatic Lifepo4 3.2v cells like CALB or EVE, or cylindrical cells like Battleborn?
ОтветитьDo you use ferrules on your wires or just screw down onto the wires
ОтветитьHi can you please tell me if I can add just one 550w Solar panel to this Victron 100/50 to charge 12v bank batteries?
Regards
One of the better videos out there those little breaker boxes are really nice for using your in and out to a small inverter as it will give you a main in and out with two separate load breakers.
If running a generator one breaker from the generator one from shore power on the inputs and you have two breakers for your outputs.
I usually put a 5 amp breaker on a circuit to an outside plug on my rig I go very low on the amperage so that if somebody tries to plug in there AC while I'm gone it will trip the breaker and they won't drain my batteries as I've had this happen to me from others in the campground plugging in and draining my batteries.
Nice video. Does the unit have an internal temperature sensor, or does low temp charge protection only become functional if you use the wireless temp/volt sensor?
ОтветитьI’m thinking of getting a victron charge controller for my system. I hope it explains all that in a manual you made it look so easy lol
ОтветитьI would say it’s a very good thing to go with double pole DC breakers simply because breaking the positive and negative is good if you find that something has failed within the breaker so with a one pole one you may not be able to turn it off but with a double pole one worst case only the negative is isolated but it gives you time to plan out a proper fix
