I feel like this is one of the Megami Tensei games that really deserves another shot. It's unlikely to happen, but a full-on remake that irons out the mechanics and adds some complexity to the environments would be so great to see. If this review is anything to go by, NINE seems like a story and world with a lot of potential.

You mentioned saving alot and that one move that crashes your game and having to reload and all. Does the emulator you were using not have a "save state" option? That should help speed things along

i played about 2/3 of NINE and had to drop it because i had enough with the hacking RTS stuff, i love the other aspects of the game tho and i didnt mind a MT thats built a little differently, i might continue the last 1/3 but for now i decided to settle with ur video

It's a little amazing how this animates and plays and looks jankier as a "Single player?" experience than the Actually intended to be online MMO that'd come just 5 years later.

Okay, so I just started this video, but I just HAVE to mention this. I barely play SMT or Persona, but I played a lot of Digimon Stories Cybersleuth. Those few shots of Tokyo districts in the beginning of the video are amazingly similar to the Cybersleuth versions of them, right down to the camera angles. I thought Cybersleuth would have used a simplified, anime-ified version of them or created fictional versions, but apparently not? If two games are so close to each other, the chance it's extremely detailed versions built from reference images is pretty high. I'm impressed by that amount of attention to detail already.

The game letting you use any demon as a follower and having multiple animations solely for negotiation gives the demons a lot of charm in it. They're also pretty unhinged at times like Hanuman breakdancing and cartwheeling everywhere. Combined with a fair few demons whose only other 3D appearances are IMAGINE (which reused models from NINE) AND Dx2 (the fucking gacha mobile game) and there's a lot to see if you view it as a museum for Kaneko artwork.

I think fezua Adonis is a reference to feather Adonis who is an old champion that you can find his/her statue in the Coliseum's hall of fame in smt 2.

I love Marsh's use of "we" and saying shit like "if i can do x so can you", it really feels like youre playing a game with a friend

We need a full translation of this and Giten MT. It would be awesome to fully experience the extended canon of SMTs 1 and 2

They should do a full scale remake of this one. While making the weird hacking mechanic even more wacky and bizarre.
