Because the government bloody lied to them during the pandemic
Ответитьit's even worse now in 2023/2024. I love my job but little bit more and it will be worth comeback to driving a forklift 6am to 2pm
ОтветитьLong hours and wages undercut by hordes of immigrants. Same as US and Canada.
Ответитьmigrants are treated better then uk truck drivers.
ОтветитьShortage of Drivers :))))))) 😂 if anything we are to many and not organised. That's why we earn / hours less than a cleaning lady . Its true we earn good mony but just because we work long hours.... and with wath sacrifice. No social life and hard to build a family in this field....
ОтветитьI am from.germany ... and yes in the nederlands it is the best . U got coffee and all people are friendly i love holland ❤
ОтветитьThe Concrete Cowboys of yesteryear are mostly Asphalt Assholes now. 47 years at this and it’s sad what it has become in the US. A literal race to the bottom. But Corporate America is real happy!
ОтветитьIv been a class 1 for 33 years .
I've met 10% Absolutely fantastic professional drivers and Brilliant people.
HOWEVER ...........
The other 90% are absolutely tossers.
Don't like it don't do it.
ОтветитьIam a happy retired lorry driver
ОтветитьOne reason could be they're brassed off trying to share the road with BMWs, those who 'aim' their vehicles rather than drive them.
ОтветитьGovernment in UK, rather look after the things that is coming from France, "RATS"
ОтветитьIt sounds like my British counterparts have the exact same problem that has American truckers have
ОтветитьTypical, typical British mainstream media another crisis. Terrible Britain, world coming to an end and is there a real problem no difficulty yes will it be resolved of course it will, since Brexit 7 years ago there’s been a crisis virtually every month because it is make-believe, disinformation and a lot of the time lies.
ОтветитьHere's an honest question from a 27 year old in America: will truck drivers in the U.K. some time in the future get better pay like the Amercan truck drivers that make $100,000 or more a year? Because I would REALLY love to live in the U.K. as a Lorry Driver. Tell me your thoughts.
ОтветитьNot many that I’ve met are😂😂
ОтветитьAll this over a cup of coffee 🤣
ОтветитьFor years I have always wanted to be a trucker but have never heard anything good or positive about the industry, from long hours, bad pay, VOSA, bad facilities including paying thousands to get license plus CPC haulage industry is run like a mafia business big firms like Eddy Storbad controls how the pay structure, Class1 drivers earn minimum wage in January February when no jobs available, it’s sad
ОтветитьLousy pay long hours though still the best paid unskilled job.
ОтветитьSo true, I went to france and the warehouse asked me if I wanted a shower, coffee, tea the lot!
ОтветитьI'm a truck driver but in the intermediate stage where I have to drive rigid chassis before moving to articulated next year. Driver shortages can be blamed on the company not doing their homework on who they are accepting orders from, not having plans on delivery, and blaming the driver for anything that goes wrong on the way. It's an utter disgrace
ОтветитьIt hasn't changed a thing
ОтветитьOne feet in prison another in a grave
ОтветитьI love my job as a class 1 driver, but I hate to say it he’s absolutely right
Facilities are abysmal
The large hauliers could definitely make a difference here! I work for one and during the lockdowns the drivers had facilities taken away on my site at first as an emergency it made sense to separate the drivers and our own staff as much as possible to ensure everyone is kept safe but it hasn't quite gone back to normal where only the basic facilities have been available to the drivers as in just toilets, showers still locked off and no access to the canteen where they could make a hot drink or heat food, more can definitely be done within the industry to give these drivers a few more facilities and have a place to relax for an hour or so away from there trucks! Unfortunately covid hit at the worst time as we are now dealing with Brexit on top of it all so I think companies are trying to tighten their finances and the first people to suffer will be the drivers! If all the large hauliers all put a bit of effort in to just give the drivers the basic needs whilst they are on break times like a comfortable place to sit and at least access to a microwave and kettle plus decent toilets and showers I think it would go a long way! The drivers in the uk at least do seem to have pretty good gear on board there own trucks but over the last 10 years this is probably due to the lack of service stations and facilities on delivery sites for drivers and I dare say alot of the things in the cabs are bought by the uk drivers themselves! The guys driving from European companys most I work with are Romanian seem to have a really crap deal that obviously have the same facilities as uk drivers have when in the uk but their companies send them driving for 3 months at a time and if it was me and I could work in my own country and go home at least once a week I would definitely choose that so the shortage from Europe is more down to their own companies treating their own drivers like dogs! Something in the uk needs to improve the pay isnt exactly bad for drivers depending on what they are doing but it is a fairly good wage but long hours I think if the companies that run the service stations had say goverment funding to make the facilities really nice like in europe for drivers and also got involved with the big hauliers with some incentives to give the drivers good facilities it could attract me blood to the job, I think the whole process of getting your licence is one of the biggest hurdles the amount of money and time it takes in this country is really hard on people the warehouse to road sceme sounds great on paper but what a waste of time it was as most of the warehouse staff that got the licence and started doing the job realised how long the hours are and the pay was marginally better so they just went back to there old jobs, there needs to be something like that again but much better planned with realistic expectations of the job and if they do run a program like that again then maybe get together with all the big hauliers and come up with a good wage and hours compromise to attract the new drivers and please the existing drivers!
ОтветитьPiss poor bad magment and poorly paid wages..
ОтветитьWhy bring European Drivers in? We're not running a charity - give the work to the British truck drivers and stop making the British Truck Drivers work for slave wages everythingelse is going up in price then give British Truck drivers a wage rise like they have never had since forever. The wages today ARE THE SAME AS THEY WERE BACK IN 1998 everybody's had a pay rise except truck drivers who have to pay for their own training. There's a driver shortage because hauliers won't pay a fair wage to drivers, so the driver's go to agencies so the hauliers then have to pay the agencies large amounts of money it's insane.
ОтветитьHolland knows how to treat drivers rest of the world take note and learn that's why in Holland there is no shortages
ОтветитьIt's not Brexit, it's not Brexit, it's not Brexit 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьI have lived in UK for more than 15 years and drove tipper about 12 years in and around London. Have a clean license.Tried a lot to regularise myself but failed every time. Paid thousands pounds to immigration solicitors and every time big NO from Home Office. What I understood from my bitter experiences that maybe UK needs ‘benefit cheaters’ not hardworkers. Sadly returned back about 4 years ago.
But at current situation I can just feel Sorry.
Leave the job easy
ОтветитьGet the job done go home 🏠 stop crying about it
ОтветитьNot relevant to the post but can any hgv class 1 drives help me please, my misses passed her class2 and class1 she got a job with DHL even tho they do not use hgv satnav she said it be handy to have one so I want to get her one for her birthday but I don't have a clue of what make or model of hgv satnav is best one to get for her.
Ответитьlovely schwarzmüller trailer :)
ОтветитьAs a Yank and I am retired I would not mind being a truck driver in Europe or England.
ОтветитьSo its all about a cup of coffee
ОтветитьUk is a small island, never have the land space to build fancy stop points for truckers near highways, unlike European countries which are 4 times the size with similar population
ОтветитьPay the lorry drivers what they are worth, which is quite a lot given the importance their roles have on everyday life. Treat them like the essential workers they are and there will be plenty of lorry drivers in this country.
ОтветитьDo they not know they have the option to quit and find a new career...... It's not rocket science.
ОтветитьThe English Elites are still very colonial mentality. Its evident in the UK's war mongering, trying to be Americans. Look at how the govt pander to extradition of Julian Assange. US & UK govt are war criminals. Dont expect them to treat anyone with respect.
ОтветитьIs anyone in Britain happy?
ОтветитьHats off to this guy and the truck drivers around the world who keeps the world running 👏🏾🙏🏾
Ответитьfoe the past 5 years goverment told truck driving was a job of the past and no driver truck will do the job...soo for the last 5 years less young people got that as a job...goverment wanted all of that
ОтветитьHopefully this shortage will lead to an increase in salary in the sector.
ОтветитьIt's either the accent or all that damn tea.
ОтветитьHaving lived and worked in South Africa until 2017. Truck stops throughout SA have to comply with specific standards, for Security, Accommodation, Toiletries, and food. Although some are attached to a highway fuel stop for all the HGV drivers take priority and have their own parking and living sections. Others are independent for HGV only.
ОтветитьOpen world !?
ОтветитьMost people in Britain are unhappy, not just truck drivers.
ОтветитьI know I'm late but spending 3 mins isn't going cover what's wrong with the trucking industry
