But what happens to customers that have paid prepaid for their domain for like 5 years?
ОтветитьNamecheap
ОтветитьDoes this include custom email with domains bought with other domain host
ОтветитьJust moved all of my Domains to my Cloudflare free account. HOWEVER....*VERY IMPORTANT* .... With a Cloudflare Free Account you can "NOT" use other Nameservers. You can only use Cloudflare's Nameservers. Their paid plans are very pricey. Otherwise thier Domain prices are very resonable. It was not too complicated to figure out the move.
ОтветитьYa Willie, this really sucks man. I LOVE Google domains - all my domains are with Google right now. WordPress sent an email with an offer to transfer for FREE plus an additional year at no cost. Their rates also look very similar to Google's. Call me crazy but, since all my sites are WordPress sites, and they've been around forever now, I feel like this is the best option for me.
ОтветитьHi there now that Squarespace has bought Google domains what will happen to all these basic Google websites?
ОтветитьIs there a need to transfer to another hosting provider ?
ОтветитьI'm sad. For my country Google Domains offered such low renewal prices that it was a blast for me. Now with the change of currency, I don't know what to expect.
ОтветитьYou should have got your email from Google that it's moving to squarespace yesterday.
ОтветитьWhy tf.........
ОтветитьWhat a shock and huge disappointment for both the Domains and workspace 🙈🙈
ОтветитьI just got an email today from Google, I wonder about Google sites
ОтветитьWhat about Google sites
ОтветитьCompletely blindsided. It’s been around for so long and has such a positive rating. Definitely waiting for info on this as i have all of my domains hosted with them.
ОтветитьI know this is a month old video, but I moved all of my domains over to Cloudflare and the ones I couldn't, I moved them to Porkbun. The rest will expire and go away. I do not trust Square with anything. And furthermore, if they sell off workspace, I will no longer be a Google power user. I love my Workspace, but will refuse to use them and move operations if they ever sell it.
Ответитьi transferred all my google domains to namecheap after this announcement. Squarespace prices are a ripoff
ОтветитьName Cheap is a good option as well. I find some things I do not like with Cloudflare like support.
Ответитьthis is not good for Google. Next time nobody is going to trust google for any of these types of products.
ОтветитьWow, going from $12 a year with a static site with Google, to a site that would cost $16/ month with SquareSpace. All I want are a few static pages for the price of a domain. Oh, and email forwarding to be able to create spam email addresses. But still stay with $12/year.
ОтветитьI was finally smart enough to switch to Google and it sold. womp fing womp.
ОтветитьIuse 123-reg in the UK and there control panel is so easy to use.
ОтветитьPeople still use/trust Google for these sorts of services?
ОтветитьGoogle Domains betrayed us all.
ОтветитьMoved to cloudflare yesterday
ОтветитьI've been very happy with Cloudflare, however, I only have 4 domains currently.
DDNS and email setup with ProtonMail was very easy.
I just moved all of my domains (Google Workspace domains) over to Cloudflare, and it was seamless. I watched a video, and learned quickly, took a couple of days for all of them, going back and forth. What's even better is that collectively, it is MUCH cheaper!
ОтветитьEver since they 'announced' this (15th June) my website is 'out of order'.... my clients can't reach me. I am going to change provider and also look at Google Workspace... Very disappointed in Google ...
ОтветитьWhat happens if there are multiple years left? For example, if i added 5 yearswhen i renewed.
ОтветитьI've moved to Porkbun. Good upfront pricing and simple, but adequate, interface.
ОтветитьWell... Frustrated to say the least. I will be looking at AWS and Cloudflare but need to check it out with some low level stuff before I move something bigger. So frustrating.
Ответитьcloudflare cheaper and has so many features
ОтветитьI definitely didn't see this coming. I ended up moving about 20 domains over to dnsimple.
ОтветитьI use GoDaddy
ОтветитьHave multiple domains with Google. Very happy with the bang-for-the-buck. But very concerned about this. Selloffs are rarely positive for the consumer.
ОтветитьBoo. Wonder if/how bad the transition will be for people who purchased workspace with email services through the domain portal. Some things like billing updates don't currently work properly if you try to login to the workspace portal in this scenario.
Ответитьwhat a surprise
Ответитьplz keep us up to date on this =]
ОтветитьNot cool, Google! I just moved my domains from GoDaddy to Google Domains a few years ago and I don't want anything to do with SquareSpace.
ОтветитьCoincidentally I've been moving all my client domains to cloudflare... So i feel lucky with the timing. Cloudflare is pretty freaking excellent for many things. I also had some with Google domains for ddns. It works great. I'll have to evaluate if i can get similar functionally with cloudflare.
ОтветитьReally curious how this is going to affect Google Sites as well.
ОтветитьI already started moving domains to porkbun
ОтветитьI’m still pissed…,
ОтветитьThis completely undermines any trust left in their cloud platform. If something as fundamental as this can be sold off, I would not touch any of their cloud services at this point. This is roughly equivalent to AWS selling route53 to webflow or wix.
ОтветитьNobody can tell me what I can expect with my legacy free google workspace
ОтветитьUGH! Another entry in the journal of "Killed by Google". Cloudflare is about the only game left I trust. More, and more I am feeling the need to rid my life of Google. But I have so much tied to my primary domain with them, over the last 15yrs using Gsuite. I really appreciate any Synology related content to help in transitioning away from Google as well.
ОтветитьI use google cloud, firebase, workspace and domains, and I feel completely betrayed by this move.
I use Google services for its integration between them and tbh this is not cool.
Why would a cloud service provider get rid of an already established domain service, it makes no sense, this sends the message that something is not ok with its infrastructure and makes me wanna migrate completely before-hand before I am force to migrate because they suddenly decide to shut down another service.
Pretty surprising. My domains are in Route 53 (AWS) so I'm not directly affected (yay!)
