no flare ups because there was no meat directly over the fire dummy, there can be many copycats that try to duplicate a traeger, but they will never get is as good, well crafted, easy to cook on as a traeger. i can cook 10 whole beer can chickens or 4 10lb briskets on my traeger with no flare ups, how many can you do on there, lol, my one tip to people, quit wasting money on real deal copycats that will wear out in a year or earlier, just buy the real deal to begin with, buy a traeger
