The American Dream was built only for WHITE people. Now that it’s unlikely… ok now it’s dead? You can’t be serious.

There’s another factor to bring up.

Our economy is centered around the idea of Constant Production for the Sake of Production. Or in other words, we must constantly produce goods regardless of whether there’s any actual need for them or any benefit in manufacturing them. Take clothing, for example, where even though we’ve produced enough clothes so that every person on this planet can wear a new outfit every hour until they die without ever wearing the same item of clothing twice, our economy still insists that we must keep the factories running, keep making more and more clothes even though most of them will never be worn and will just rot. But we simply can’t say “Okay, we’ve made enough clothes. How about we have the workers do something else?

And of course, this constant production demands the constant consumption of resources and here’s where we hit a major problem for capitalism. Basic common sense says that just as if you constantly consume chocolate cake, you will eventually run out of chocolate cake, if you constantly devour resources, you’re going to eventually run out of resources.

Y’see, the problem facing capitalism, paradoxically, is that it won. It effectively took over the world.

The reason Capitalism managed to keep going was until recently, there were always new lands to expand to with new resources to exploit. Use up Europe? Go burn your way through the New World. Go devour Africa and Asia and any other places you can find.

But Capitalism won. Capitalism has taken over the world, and there are no new lands for it to devour. As a result, it is hitting the natural wall that it managed to delude itself into believing didn’t exist. Right now, Capitalism is staying in the game by cannibalizing itself, but there’s an obvious flaw in that strategy and they know it.

It is a very easy fix. Tax the profits and redistribute it. But for whatever reason, the people who stand to benefit the most from this are against it.

can you do a video about the hesitations that people would have upon listening to socialist ideas? "Why rock the boat? The status quo is best", "Socialism is a pipe dream".

some of your other videos, i stopped watching because they seemed too "extreme", by which i mean they said things -- angrily, using emotion to rile the viewer up -- that seemed to be false to me but gave no explanation about why the idea is true.

(one example is a video that said that managers and CEOs bring no value, and i'm thinking "of course they do -- we need managers"; and you said this idea in a way that seemed to try to divide and drive anger, in an "us vs them" way. i /hate/ this strategy. i hate it when politicians use it, for example; i feel manipulated.)

in contrast, this video i watched to the end, because it (un-angrily) laid out basis of facts for me to think about. that is, the socialist ideas were well-supported.

i think what i'm trying to say is: a) i really appreciate videos that lay out its ideas less angrily, and more factually, otherwise i feel manipulated and will tune out, and b) i want more videos that meet viewers like me halfway: viewers who AREN'T convinced about socialism. this will require identifying and addressing (in a NOT snarky way) our very real hesitations that we have when hearing socialist messages.

Thank you, this is why I’ve been telling people. We have to take things into our own hands. Our ancestors fought and died for their families and the greater good and we can’t get our stuff together? We literally have AI super gods in our phone to help us, so we can work on the things you mentioned at the end.

A slightly different story, but I have been fed up with the healthcare system not helping or researching my rare condition as well as many others. So now I am starting my own research organization from scratch and I could use some help if anyone is interested. Advice is welcome as well.

How can older people be so complacent? How are we all so complicit in letting corporation and rich elite rob us of our humanity? Revolution starts in our mind and then to our family then take it to the world. Take the land back. Stand with people not the system. We can make up a new system!

You put a lot of the problems we have now on Ronald Regan which is well deserved but no president has done more harm to the country in the past 60 years than Lyndon Johnson. The 1965 Immigration Act was the final nail in the coffin for the American Dream.

Things that changed:
1. Bills; phone, cable, internet (some people didn’t have phones in 1940)
2. Cars; not everybody had a car. Many families had only one. Add insurance, tax, inspections, registration, regular maintenance, gas/oil, tires/wipers. One car payment today can be multiple times more than a mortgage payment back in the 1940s.
3. Food; there are millions of products on the market today. Convenience drives people to buy quick and unhealthy foods. In the 40s, there were fewer products and food was whole, basic, needing preparation and cooking. It was cheaper and healthier.

Communism doesn't work and capitalism doesn't work or both forms end up with an elite oligarchy so unless they donate their wealth I'm afraid the answer is to call the herd and maybe future Generations will be more generous there's no rule or law or system you can put in place to keep jerks from being jerks
