ОтветитьDecimated at Fredericksburg in a mad attack on a well entrenched position. Included in that attack was St. Claire Mulholland, 116th Pen whose parents emigrated from Lisburn, Co. Antrim, my hometown. No plaque anywhere to recognise his role in that civil war
ОтветитьGreat history. From Ireland and never realised the extent to which Irish men fought in the US civil war. Its not taught in schools here, but should be. Thanks for the video.
ОтветитьGreat video 🇮🇪
ОтветитьThank you for this imformation
Ответитьalways love seeing Park Ranger Matt! Uncle Dan!!!
ОтветитьThey got shot down 6 months earlier at Fredericksburg
ОтветитьDon't try and tell me reparations hasn't been paid and then some! Irish immigrants paid it!
ОтветитьMy great grand father was in the 28th Mass Volunteers, all Irish immigrants .... that unit had lost 3/4 of it's original size after Gettysburg. Brave souls all.
ОтветитьMy GG Grandfather was with the 28th MA Company A and was captured here. Do you know of anyway to find out if he was part of a prisoner swap at Gettysburg or if he was taken and paroled later? I know he went back to the unit where he was promoted 08/01/1864 and mustered out 12/19/1864. His Parole date is listed as N.S. on the only paper I could find. Don't have a lot of money so I only know of resources I could find.
ОтветитьIf Sickles stayed where he was,Longstreet may have been able to close in on the 2nd Corps faster. The Confederates chose to attack towards the East which led them towards the Wheatfield. The attack kept moving, but mostly toward Devils Den and Little Round Top. That left Wrights Brigade as the only Confederates to have gotten anywhere near the Copse of Trees.
Ответитьforeign fighters killing americans
ОтветитьSalute to the men of the Irish brigade.
ОтветитьI see Matt Atkinson I watch and like.
ОтветитьFather Corby later became the President of Notre Dame University in South Bend Indiana. There is also a statue of Father Corby in front of the University Administration Building at Notre Dame.
ОтветитьThank you.
