Why should a marriage be forced upon people by ending no-fault divorce? Marriages can turn out to be wrong for people without anyone actually doing anything wrong. People can and do unexpectedly grow apart. That's not wrongdoing, that's life. Furthermore, marriage is nothing more than a contract that gives state (and possibly church) legal power over your relationship - it says nothing about the quality of the relationship itself. In a healthy relationship, people stay together because they love each other and keep choosing one another, not because a contract forces them to stay together.

Here is a different scenario: man and woman have child, man finds out child is not his through paternity test. Woman agrees, but man wants to stay with woman because he loves her...and therefore, raises child as his own. Would that work out?

Those are just theoretical scenarios. Rather let the better parent have the child.

Child support payments shouldn't exist. If a parent cannot support a child without help then that parent should not get any type of custody until they get a job, their own place, and become responsible.

Couples do not need to try and fit themselves into the state marriage contract. The rise of Prenuptial agreements is basically customizable marriage contracts that allow people to "overwrite" the generic state contract. Sit down and write Prenuptial agreement guidelines for your children and grandchildren. Make marriage culturally relevant again. Put into the contract that DNA testing on children is mandatory. Put into the contract responsibility guidelines, modesty guidelines, technology guidelines, guidelines for everything you can conceive. And put in a severance clause(s). Do not leave ANYTHING up to the courts or a judge... take away all the power of the state by entering into a comprehensive agreement. Families will use a year and a small fortune to plan the wedding day, spend some time planning the marriage too.

If a man is unhappy living in circumstances that would logically make him unhappy (such as getting no affection or intimacy from women), then he is unhappy. If a woman is only elliciting her affection because she has to, it doesn't make him happier in the long run, and there's always a tell if not many. “Best for the child” is to mean minimum two consenting coparents or the child is taken and placed for adoption. A single parent shouldn’t be allowed to refuse adoption for a child.
