In my opinion, he is not a psychopath but a sociopath: I don't think he was born 'that way' but rather the circumstances, the treatment of his parents, the violence around him, not having any control his entire life. His body and mind were abused in every way possible.

So interesting that Mark, not knowing much about this case, picked up on Jeffrey's father also having obsessive thoughts but succeeded in controlling them. His father admitted to having such thoughts.

There’s not a single episode I’ve yet seen of this show where Mark has familiarity of the case prior to filming. Really?? Never heard of Dahmer??? I figured a case as big as the Milwaukee Cannibal had to have transcended the boundaries of the U.S. I actually paused the show, stared in disbelief for a moment, and said aloud “Oh COME on!” This guy is unreal! 🤣 I mean no disrespect. I adore Mark. But REALLY??

I think mum was a malignant narcissist and dad a covert narcissist.
Dad said he would leave the house when the arguments reached a level of violence, Mum is in complete denial that they even happened, taking no responsibility for her part in his young mind seeing and hearing all that going on. She even classed these moments as 'normal.' Dad plays a victim role, maybe it was something I didn't do, and should have done. I think sexual aggression was present in that household too, I really do. His dad showed his hand with the sudden breaking of his silence to tell Jeffrey how he came to the conclusion of responsibility, seeking gratitude while making sure Jeffrey doesn't forget, it was all dad! Jeffrey's finger tapping while the dad holds his arm and strokes it with his thumb... Jeffrey's not comfortable with that at all. I'm not sure you showed this part!

I think one part of the puzzle is he had internalised homophobia and didn't know how to deal with being homosexual. His homophobic family played a role. They made him feel guilty for it, some of them using religion.

Of course many gay people had internalised homophobia and homophobic families back then…maybe they didn’t have the biological predisposition for sociopathy? Jeffrey was apparently bullied a lot too but I don’t think it was for being gay as he was closeted and fairly “straight-passing”.

“He stated that as a teenager at 15 or 16, he realised that he was a homosexual. He never had any interest in women and had no idea why he was a homosexual but he distinctly remembers that in high-school and during his teenage years, that he was only attracted to men. He stated that it was at this time that he fantasised about killing human beings...He realised at this early age, that his homosexual fantasies and his fantasies of killing and dismembering human beings were interlocked. He received gratification from these fantasies and they occurred many times. He stated that whenever he had these fantasies of homosexual activity, he also had fantasies of killing and dismembering. He also went on to state that retrieving the roadkill animals and cutting them up satisfied his urges and fantasies for killing and dismembering human beings.

…then moved in with his grandmother in West Allis. This time he decided to make a concentrated effort to find some direction in his life. He went on to state that he felt constantly lonely and empty without direction and there was no meaning in life for him. His grandmother was a religious woman of the Protestant faith, and a regular church-goer, and talked to him several times about religion and how it could turn his life around. When he first moved to West Allis, he had continuous fantasies about homosexuality, and that along with the homosexual urges came the fantasies to dominate, kill, and dismember other men. He continuously fought these urges by going to church with grandmother, by reading the Bible and by trying to live his life in an orderly fashion, as he put it “to walk the straight and narrow”. He said he constantly had interlocked feelings and fantasies of homosexual behaviour, killing and dismembering and it finally overcame him, as he was finding it more and more impossible to continue with the lifestyle of church-going and right living.”

I find him fascinating. He's so unusual in comparison to other serial killers. He seems to be far more self aware, or at least self reflective. A self reflective monster??? What on earth is this???? His case is so mind bending.

This is pure speculation on my part, but I theorize that Dahmer’s father may have been that 8 year old boy in the book. Which would explain why he is awkwardly sitting in on this interview, their distance, and Jeffery Dahmer’s surprise at some of the points.

I’m late to this but I 100% believe he was possessed. Call that dissociative or whatever you believe. But the Dahmer that did those things is not the Dahmer that is sitting in this interview. The “it” is his demon.

“He was later arrested for lewd and lascivious behaviour and said he was exposing himself in a park in West Allis. And that some minors were walking through the park, and they were 13 and 14 year-olds, three boys. He stood about 50 ft away in a wooded area. They saw him and he wanted them to see him. He had his penis out and was masturbating. They laughed and left. The police came later and he was taken to jail for a couple of days. He was jailed and was ordered to receive counselling and was on probation for about one year. And that’s when he started seeing Dr Rosen. He saw her on a regular basis for about one year and discontinued the visits once his probation ended. He said these sessions were not helpful. He was supposed to be seeing her for any sexual problems but he did not want to talk to her. I asked him about his exposing behaviour and his masturbating in front of men. He said this went on for about a year and started while he was living in West Allis. He would expose himself and masturbate in front of teenage boys and some adult men. He would fantasise about the kids and would just masturbate but he would not ejaculate. In somewhat typical exhibitionistic fashion, he said he wanted to observe their reactions. He said a good reaction would be for them to stare and watch him in an admiring way. He said that most people that saw him would pretend not to see him and walk by”.

I think you can have psychopaths that aren’t always sociopaths. But I don’t think you can have sociopaths that aren’t psychopaths. Wouldn’t that makes sociopaths higher up on the scale of lunacy then a typical psychopath, since they lack emotion 🤔🤔 I thought that’s why sociopaths do bad things is because they’re trying to actually feel something? Do sociopaths feel compulsion? Do sociopaths feel lust? 🤔🤔🤔🤔 for some reason I thought it went sociopath…then psychopath higher up on the scale of lunacy. But I think now it’s the other way around. 🤔🤔🤔
Dalmer is beyond fascinating in a morbid way. Idk why but for some reason I feel sad for him and feel like he is protecting someone. To be honest, I think his dad is sitting beside him to make sure he “takes full accountability” and doesn’t throw his dads creepy af ass under the bus for what ever trauma Jeff felt like he lost control of his psyche, and his ego was killed and replaced by “it” 🥴😳🤔🤔🤔

“I apologise again for the graphic nature of this…he cut every single one of his victims open in the abdomen. With 14 of his victims, he placed his penis inside the viscera, inside the cavity of the body. And he got an erection and ejaculated inside the bodies of these people. With I believe it was 5 or 6 of the people, the skulls and the heads that he kept, he placed his penis inside of the mouth of the decapitated person. And he got erections, and he ejaculated. And it was with 5 or 6 of the people, after death, that he engaged in anal sex with them.”

I realize this is old and y'all prolly won't see this but I'm gonna say it in case....
Is it possible that Jeff had multiple personality disorder?? Which is why there is such a mismatch in what he did and what hes showing??
I'm gonna put it out there... I think his dad was heavily abusing him... In all ways.. possibly from a very young age..
I think the physical violence his dad inflicted is why he was too scared to say anything about the sexual violence.
I think thats why there's discomfort in his posture and how he's sitting.
I thought covering ur gens is a possible sign of protecting it??
Also thought the lip thing was a sign of suppression.. like keeping something in not saying it?
In my opinion his dad may have came over one or 2 times when he was "MOSTLY there alone". Cause he also (for someone reason) mentioned that his dad was only 5 miles away.
And also multiple personality is usually formed as a sort of defense thing right???
And maybe if the other part of him.. the defense created was so extreme because it had to be bigger then maybe what was happening to him in combination for an intense anger for everything that happened to him.
I think the fact that his dad said the neighbor assaulted him when he was 8 is a total lie... Not sure how soon he said that before death but it sorta seems like a death bed confession (he lied about the source but was hoping to have a little bit of possible relief for himself by letting ppl know that happened to Jeff at all).

“It did seem that after they were completely under my control…that it became easier to fulfil my sexual desires. I could take my time and not have to worry about entertaining them, keeping them satisfied. The issue of being in control of them made it more exciting to me, and then as things progressed I was branching out into the cannibalism aspect trying to find greater fulfilment and satisfaction. And then the taking pictures of the internal organs and saving their heads…it was just further branching out, trying to get greater satisfaction, stimulation.”
