This is easy for me to understand. I have been on both of the receiving and giving end of obsessive fixation. I wasn't aware of what happened to Ms Birdsong, but I was aware of what happened to Jodie Foster and Bjork. For my part, I wanted desperately to play music with these two brothers who were both older than me, and it took me from age 15 to age 19 before I got it through my head that it wasn't going to happen. Then, 2 years later, trying to work with another vocalist who was very gifted but out of touch with her own emotions, I discovered what it was I had been subjecting those two brothers to.
