The rapid growth of technology, killed movie stars.
Now there are mini trailers in front of trailers because people have the attention span of a toddler with ADHD because of you tube, tik tok, ect...
There was a time you would wait a year for movies to be released on home video, not they are streaming 2-3 weeks after they were in theaters. We watched actors on entertainment channels give interviews, now they run their mouth all over social media and they are no longer so different from you or I. Thats what killed movie stars.

You will never see "movie stars" again until they start making movies that people want to see again. Until Hollywood breaks their self inflicted, self destructive, Woke mind-virus infected, ever decreasing cycle that they have locked themselves into, then the "movie star" will cease to exist.
I believe the last of them to be Tom Cruise, who essentially makes big movies and keeps his head down in between.
What also needs to stop is allowing the audience to "see behind the curtain" , revealing the true personality behind your favourite actors/actresses. Social Media being the biggest problem as it allows them to show themselves as never seen before....and most of the time its not pleasant.
Once they reveal themselves to be unpleasant, narcissistic, hypocrical, lecturing, arrogant morons, as so many have done, it becomes tough to seperate them from the characters they play on screen that you enjoy watching.
Case in point, I now face the dillema of trying to enjoy some of my all time favourite films, such as "Heat", "Taxi Driver", "Goodfellas", "Casino", "Godfather PtII" and "Meet the Fockers".
There is a good reason why the scathing speech made by Ricky Gervais at his final hosting of the Golden Globes resonates with the public so strongly.

i think the same thing happen with musicians too even though its a lil different; their was still a lil mystery to musicians. now they'll sit on Instagram live for hours lmao

Funny how life is. I know I'm nobody, married to a Driver. Someone who picks up the Elites at airports and drives them to their unbelievably expensive digs. My husband works part time for a company that does this and who did my husband pick up? And believe me, he gave us a different impression of who he is in real life. Perhaps he's overcome?

So few movies worth spending the money to go see now. For many years I would see at least 2-3 movies per month; now it's per year. What I liked about the theater (I live in a place now where there's just one theater) during the cooties was they were showing older movies. Finally got to see The Fifth Element, which I unfortunately missed in the theater when it first came out.

Markets are saturated with garbage and money is spread so far out now who cares....garbage films all over the place. I haven't even seen one good movie this year, Not one new movie has been any good! There isn't even one rising star worth my time watching. There is no indiana jones, there is no cult hero at all in anything just vaporwear junk from people who decide what is entertainment and are souless! Lets get real the people making decisions are BORING! Not one original idea exists from writers just a rehash of everything already done. Like reskinning tired old tales into new minds.

I used to go to movies all the time I loved movies but haven't gone in the last ten years cause movies suck big time now days. Instead of telling an intriguing story and entertaining they want to preach their bull shit agenda.

Honestly, there are just so many things that actors need to just stop doing. Aside from God, awful behavior that either ruins their careers or puts them behind bars for the rest of their lives, but also mostly just keeping their business to themselves, which is why I'm never really gonna do interviews or whatnot. Because once the screen is off, I want it to be off. I only want it to be on when I'm acting. Not what? I'm not acting life and work balance. Is everything an actor needs? Because they're just pretty much like you and me doing what they love and for money to have a purpose to live and do what they do. Everyone should stop acting like they're more than that and get disappointed when they find out. They're just another person, it's ridiculous, they're not god or whatever they're just people, everyone should expect that and respect it.

These comments are boomer af. While its true that there aren't massive movie stars like a Pacino or Nicholson, the quality of movies haven't taken a dip. There's still so many great movies coming out every year, you just have to be curious and look past the mainstream. And there is no shortage of incredible actors either. Their star power shouldn't matter.

I feel sorry for young people these days. They missed SO many wonderful films, as well as so much excellent music, that we older people got to enjoy. We were lucky! (By the way, Mr. Quaid, I watched "Flesh and Bone" today.) Yep. 👋🏼

I remember the days when you could get 2 videos and a 3rd for free , there is so much more to see now and more people are interested in what people are really doing like american pickers or car resto programs .
