I lived in bloomington for 23 years hate it because us locals keep the town going and they only care about collage kids

The yuppies ran the working class out of their own town. Sky high cost of living and crap wages. The high price of enlightenment. A goldmine for slum lords.

Climate is 100% a big thing. You never know what the weather can be one day it will be 40 degrees and the next its 80 degrees

Visited Bloomington, IN during Thanksgiving 2022. Loved touring the IU campus . Very beautiful town. Would love to live there if more remote work opportunities open up.

Add: very poor service and only a couple of decent restaurants in town. Basically flaky people all over.

Bloomington used to be a nice town. Now it's basically an extension of IU, like they annexed the town and turned it into a giant dorm...

It's probably the most liberal town in the State of Indiana. Some may think that is a good thing, others not so much. If you want a smaller town within striking distance, try Spencer, Elletsville, or my adopted hometown of Martinsville. Martinsville has the added advantage of being a sort of midway point between Indy and Bloomington and is a nice place to live.
