Please do more eurovision content! I love seeing what people think about the songs and the gossips of it. Maybe you can react to eurovision crack videos after seeing some songs and get a grasp of the show. I wouldn't mind watching along to a whole reaction of last year's finale or both semi-finale's either. ❤
ОтветитьI remember being so sad when "we are the winners of eurovision" didn't win
ОтветитьThis video is a bit old, thus some statistics no longer match up. Mainly, Sweden won the contest in 2023 with Tattoo by Loreen - who also won in 2012 with her song Euphoria. This means that not only does Sweden and Ireland now share the record for most wins in the contest, Loreen also shares the "won twice"-badge with Johnny Logan.
ОтветитьDespite the rules there have actually been 7 occasions when the winners didn't host yhe next one mainly due to being 2 good (1960,63 and 74 after the winners had won the previous 2) 72 was moved due to monaco winning and not having facilities to host it with the most recent occasion being 2023 due to the qar in Ukraine
ОтветитьSo Australia was invited for the 60th anniversary because as a country they're big fans of Eurovision. They've attended every year since. Israel are involved because it's public service broadcaster is part of the European Broadcasting Union. If any country's broadcaster is part of the EBU they can compete. Countries can't vote for their own act.
ОтветитьPLEASE react to Bambi Thug live performance for Ireland this year! Very different style for Ireland!
ОтветитьThe riff in "Seven Nation Army" was done by another artist, not Jack White so it's strange that he got all the royalties from Israel's song.
ОтветитьNow hear this: Israel national soccer Team partecipate in European championship, while Palestine soccer team is on the ASIAN championship, crazy thing is they share the same territory!
But Israel is seen as a western country while Palestine is an "Arab country"
That's geopolitc at its finest folks 😊
BTW this year Israel got "booed" at the eurovision by most of the audience present at the theater/arena where the show was aired, but on TV we didn't hear nor boos or whistles cause they used a special microphone isolation effect to prevent people home hearing those boo and whistles.....
And that's politic on a music show stage 😅
Italy is the only country that will always bring to eurovision italian songs, because the singers from Italy are chosen by Italian people at the Sanremo festival, Sanremo is a talent show that goes on from the 60s, one of the main rules of Sanremo is that songs MUST BE WRITTEN IN ITALIAN or Italian languages (like neapolitan, language of naples) because it's the festival of the ITALIAN music... So it wouldn't make sense if songs sang there would be singed in English or French
Fun fact maneskin (italian rock band) won eurovision with an Italian song, but they singed the rest of their new songs in English to be an international band and not just an Italian band....
P.S. Italian singers often partecipate eurovision for other countries aswell, you don't necessarily need to have citizenships for that country to sing for their flag, Norway bringed an Italian singer last year who singed in English
Same for San Marino, most of San Marino singers or bands are Italian singing in English or sometimes simply italian aswell cause San Marino national language is Italian after all.
Lordi were great
ОтветитьSweden is also on 7 victories, they won in 2023 with Loreen (2nd time she won) and in a week from now i go here in Amsterdam to the Big Songfestival Party with about 25 acts from several years from Eurovision! Even Katrina is coming and Nicole (winner 1982 with Ein Bißen Frieden)
ОтветитьFirst of all, you can't vote for the country you live in. Second, you might actually support another one. Most of the Eurofans don't support their own entry!
Ответитьthe spirit of the contest and the main central point of it all is to come together and have a big fat party with each other. I think, keeping that in mind and letting go of ideas like fierce ambitions to win, patriotism, making money, gaining recognition etc., helps a lot to understand where this is coming from. there might be an individual participant or two here and there suffering from those notions, but it certainly isn't what the contest is for. it was created to bring a war-torn Europe back together and it's continued to keep it that way. to varying degrees of success over the decades, but we're still not done trying.
ОтветитьYou have one vote for people by phone/text and each country has a jury that gives the same amount of points. So the 10 most popular songs will get 1-8, 10 or 12 points from that country. Yes there's a lot of friend votes. Usually the Nordic countries give each other some points at least, for instance.
ОтветитьI’ve been to the rehearsal show of semi final 1 of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 in Rotterdam.
I live in the Netherlands and it was definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
Maybe you guys should do a video where you react to the winners of each year, that would be fun.
There are compilation videos out there.
2021, 4 countries got 0 from the public. Embers was just an awful performance, we didnt come last because of Brexit.
Ответитьaussie where just super into it and wanted to join and we love them
Ответить"Doesn't make sense" is basically the whole charm of Eurovision. Also, you can't vote for your own country.
ОтветитьAustralia is part of eurovision because they had such a massive fanbase for it that they got an invite, I believe. I think the main reason for israel is that they fund eurovision quite a lot- the "Moroccon Oil" company is israeli
ОтветитьIf you like eurovision you should listen to Love, love, peace, peace with Petra Mede and Måns Zelmerlöw. It's the ultimate recipe for a winning song
ОтветитьIt's Eurovision SONG(!) and NOT singer contest.... 😏
ОтветитьIntentional sending shitty contestents is ofc a myth ... You have to watch national preliminaries to realize that BS... 😏
ОтветитьAustralian TV network SBS has been a huge supporter of Eurovision since the 80s I think. The show is really popular in Australia. Also.. the SBS is an associated member of the European Broadcasting Union, who organise the event. Because of this, Australia was invited to the 60th anniversary of the Eurovosion Song Contest in 2015. And they have been a part of it ever since
ОтветитьSweden has now won 7 times too and are tied with Ireland. Plus Loreen who won for Sweden is the second person to win twice!
ОтветитьThe competition starts in everyone's home countries. Many countries have a competition to find a contestant for Eurovision. In Sweden it is called Melodifestivalen and it often lasts for 5-6 weeks. Has been a little different from year to year. Sub-competitions, semi-finals, finals, etc. The winner gets to represent the country in Eurovision. There are countries that only choose who will participate without competing. It is very different from country to country. The artist does not have to be from the country they are competing for, but the songwriters must. At the beginning of Eurovision, the songs and not the artists competed. Often one person competed with the song at home and for Eurovision the artist was changed to someone else but the song was the same. Probably because of this you can have artists from other countries. Now the song is still important but there is also a lot of focus on the performance, the artist, etc. as well.
Then it's on to Eurovision, where the countries have to compete to get to the final. The big 5 and last year's winners automatically go to the final. Eurovision usually lasts for 1 week. With 2 semi-finals kind of and the final.
Right now, Ireland and Sweden have the same number of wins.
I mean its no longer really European countries considering Australia, Israel and the UK participate in it.
ОтветитьFact is, you can Not Vote for your own country
ОтветитьAlways fun to see people learn about the ESC. Thank you for the reaction and be sure to tune in next year around May! It's gonna be a riot. And don't worry about too much which countries are associated. Everyone can join if you join the EBU, European Broadcasting Union, which you can do even if you are not in Europe (for example Australia).
ОтветитьEurovision 2023 was the only time the winning country did not host the event. Ukraine had won the previous year but due to the war with Russia they were unable to host. So the U.K. stepped in and offered to host on their behalf. The war is also the reason that Russia has not been competing. They are a country that usually competes in Eurovision but since the agreement to compete in the contest states that you cannot be at war with any other country competing they have been frozen out of the contest. It is likely though that once peace is brokered with Ukraine that they will be allowed to return..
ОтветитьVideo aged itself by couple of years. Sweden repeated Ireland's record in 2023 :)
ОтветитьIt's the biggest non-sport event on TV. Every year almost 200 million of people watch it. It's absolutely massive. If you have to host it, you are inviting 40 interprets with their teams, you have to have the stage, accommodation for everyone etc, so the price of the show is insane.
ОтветитьI am a European and I can say that this ''SONG'' Contest is an absolute Joke and It has nothing to do with music or Performance cause these songs are not even performed live no it's playback, it's all about politics and for that you don't need a Song Contest. So no recommendation!
ОтветитьEurovision isn't what it once was back in the 70/80's (maybe 90's?) when everyone voted for the best song. After that all the countries started voting for their neighbours even if their song was awful. Now it has countries from outside Europe, Isreal won it, Australia.
I think the worst eurovision song my our own country Ireland. We sent Dustin the Turkey, a turkey puppet with a flat/thick Dublin accent "singing" about Irish people nobody knows. We won it 7 times and we couldn't afford to host it again so we sent Dustin
Sweden won last year and so we had to host the thing this year, and we protested so fkn much before and during the competition to ban isreal from this shit. We do not want people supporting and representing genocide up in here. But it's up to the Euro Vision and the EUB to decide, absolute fkn cowards🖕. 😒
ОтветитьThe UK loses quite often, their loss in 2021 is not really a bucking of the trend, they had little to no points before.
The real reason UK tends to lose though is not because of plitics, but because of their lackluster songs.
Countries voting for their neighbours isn't just a politics thing, though we like to pretend it is, it is also just a 'common cultural trends' thing: both Romania an Bulgaria for example have simialr pop-music trends that they do not share with for example, the UK, but Moldova also vibes with it.
The way the points go, only the top 10 songs according to that country get any points. So you have to be bold and get noticed, or appeal to a certain demographic. It is ok to not be top10 everywhere, you just need to be top 10 somehwere to score points and rise. But having a 'nice, inoffensive' song will get you a steady 12th-16th place in every country, which will mean you won't get any points at all, even if your overall popularity seems perfectl mediocre.
The Brtis don't seem to get this; they keep sending mediocre songs that are 'fine' because they are so afraid of being bad and losing again, but that is exactly the type of song that gets no points at all. And the cycle continues...
I used to watch it religiously every year until it became over the top political and agenda pushing.
I’m also almost certain America was in it at least once but I could be wrong. It might carry the name of Eurovision but it’s no longer just that.
Warning. If you do decide to watch, even just the main event (the final) it’s a long ass watch but fun if watching with a crowd and dress up and stuff.
Danish guy here :)
Eurovision is, for many, THE biggest occasion of each year. Myself included. I will take 10 days off from work every year around Eurovision, meeting up with friends, going to the locations, meeting the locals, and just enjoying everything around Eurovision.
Eurovision is first and foremost a song competition, but in recent years it's been more a performance competition.
The singer/performer is not representing the nation, the SONG does.
But, above all, Eurovision is a united party. Several of my closest friends has been met at Eurovision. It's one big amazing party!
By the way, non-citizens representing countries is not such a regular occurrence. Usually, it's either the citizens of the country or people who live and work there or have some kind of a substantial connection with the country they represent. Unfortunately, most of the songs are in English in the recent times, but there are always a handful of songs in their mother tongue, so that's cool.
ОтветитьI would recommend if you're going to watch it live, only watch the finals and ignore all the other heats and semi-finals. Go in without seeing the contestants and you'll have a better time.
ОтветитьI get your views about the origins of singers. But it's also quite rare to have a Celin Dion or a Flo Rida situation. Most of the time it's Europeans, representing their own countries
ОтветитьITS a freakshow.
ОтветитьYes baby! Def react to more Eurovision pleaseee
ОтветитьLoreen won twice 🇸🇪🇸🇪
ОтветитьHow DARE the original video poster show Verka Serduschka and NOT play the music?!? "Lasha tumbai" is iconic!
ОтветитьGWAR tho
Ответить
