In the first movie Kyle Ryse told Sarah about the successor of the T-800 the T-600 that we see for the first time in Terminator Salvation and was the first attempt from Skynet to make an infiltrator unit

I'd love to see more Terminator models. Especially the T-Infinity as you had a brief picture of in the end. And if you included the terminators that went against Robocop and Superman that'd be awesome.

The thing with the T-1000 is that people who didn't know it was after them wouldn't see it coming until it was too late since it can turn into anybody including people they know. Humans build Skynet.
Skynet becomes Self aware.
Humans gets scared and try to shut it down.
Skynet sees that as a threat and fights back.
Hence the war
