Thanks for posting this. Lived a couple years in Canon, worked for Janey's rafting company, didn't spend near as much time hanging out at Buckskin's as I should have. Wonder what'll happen to the mirrors in the saloon with my (and others') name on them? A hell of a lot of Western's shot there! Maybe somebody like the brothers Cohen bought it? Their remake of True Grit might bring back the genre!
ОтветитьWow I got to see it that year in June and did not know this was going to happen to it. I will have to post my video of it for everyone.
ОтветитьI just found out about Buckskin Joe's closing. I'm really heart-broken over this news. My parents and I loved visiting that place when we were stationed in Colorado. I was really hoping to be able to take my husband and daughter there someday. :( It sucks that one of the greedy Koch brothers bought it. And I don't see him making it a place for the public to visit. It would've been nice if someone else would've bought it and kept it where and like it was.
ОтветитьI was there a day before it closed for good sad really
Ответитьmy fiancee and i and two elderly men who are developmentally disabled with whom we shared our home were there that weekend Possibly that very day There was no indication given by any of the employees that this was the last day that Buckskin Joe's would be open to the public. It is possible they didn't even know.... Though this is doubtful, seeing that the depositor of this video knew of the place's closing...
ОтветитьTimes change. Even as a kid growing up in Pueblo in the 1960s, this wasn't my favorite place to visit. I loved going to the Royal Gorge bridge, but this just seemed like a pointless stop on the way to what was real and spectacular. I was sad to see it sold, but I doubt that kids are still interested in a fake western town with fake gunfights. If I want to see it again, I'll watch Cat Ballou or True Grit.
