C++ is harder than java.. For beginning, you can mug up java's syntax and can learn oop later after basics.. But learning c++ is simply too hard

I knew Javascript 2 years ago.. i stopped coding totally after that to prepare for entrance exam.. now Im getting my laptop soon and I wanna restart my coding journey since its my dream to be a software engineer (I fancy being a web developer rn, might change opinions later lol)..I'm thinking of learning C++ since most people suggest it and it would help me do competetive programming (in which I'm intrested) later in college but I've never been introduced to it.. I've kinda forgotten Javascript a lot but I'm pretty sure I'll catch it up more easily than other languages. Which one would you prefer for me to learn.. Javascript or C++ ? Apart from Javascript, I know HTML, Python and Mysql.. but I'm no expert in any of them, just school level.
