I've switched over to silk plants rather than use plastic ones.

Your oddball barb looks like an Odessa or rosy barb.

Use all of the 90 gallon you already have. The longer the glasses, the more vulnerable it is in the middle. The short pieces you have can substitute for what you're looking for in the viewing area.

I would love to have plants in my big tank, but I'm having trouble even having filter intakes in the tank. My male dovii decided out of the blue he don't like them and pulled 3 off the suction cup and the 4th he attacked the output and knocked the spout off so the pipe went down the back of the tank. Luckily I took my headphones off and heard it. Have had to zip tie everything in place, use inline heaters. He's that bad, I can feed him till he can't eat anymore yet will still attack the female if she tries to eat, having to feed at both ends at the same time lol. All that personality comes at a price! Getting some w/c umbees next, and t. Sieboldii

Thank you for this small amount of helpful info. I'm planning to buy a betta from ebay for about 40-50 dollars. The last thing I want to do is kill the fish by accident.

My plants will live for a few months and then die.. I’m sure it’s just a life cycle thing. But I’d prefer to just switch to silk so I don’t have to change them out.

Thank you, the information about plastic plants was helpful! I used to keep fish and have always been concerned about possible toxins from plastic plants. Now I’m about to embark on Tarantula keeping and having the same concerns. Your recommendation is appreciated! 🪷

Plastic plants don['t kill fish (nor the paint chipping off ornaments). It could be any glue or fresh paint solvents leaching into the water (e.g. fresh silicon sealer) so you just leave it in a pail full of water for a while so the toxins can leak out. You should also do this with a new tank held together with silicon sealer. Just fill it with water and leave it for two weeks or more. You can smell the solvents evaporating.

I have been using fake plants for 10 years and they are also super cheap. But none of the fish dead.
