As an owner of a 2015 Outback 3.6, this is a “forever” car. Does a little bit of everything (good onroad, does light off-road, has a bit of oomph and is relaxing to drive) and is easy to get in and out of. A bit thirsty around town, but that’s the price one pays for a big, lazy engine

That car deserves having its 4x4 restored.

The Govt has fooked the motor industry my entire life.
From forced mergers, using wage controls as anti inflation tools, forcing manufacturers to move production to areas they favour to todays nonsensical policies.
They know their 2030/35 targets are unobtainable.
That's not the point. When they roll them back, the damage will have been done.
The older vehicles will be taxed or legislated off the road, and the new ones are leased, probably from China through Black Rock, etc, on longer deals "to make them more affordable" because they have no resale value.
Remember, you will own nothing and be happy.
Its funny how pollution which "they" do has changed to climate change, which we have to pay for, isn't it.
Whilst lobbyists, think tanks billionaires have the ear of Govts we cant do anything.
For a few weeks every five years the pretend to listen but once in power, we can be ignored and fleeced again.

Re the roadworks - the water company leave the road closed for two days after repairs for the resin connection to cure. Often doesn't go off well and another leak occurs!

We were all fearful for VOLVO when Ford sold it to Geely back in 2010 even though they promised not to interfere and meddle too much with the brand and it's Swedish heritage. But Geely have been extremely clever in the way they have slowly and gradually phased out pretty much all the Swedish/European lineage which made VOLVO such a unique manufacturer. As a VOLVO aficionado of 40 odd years, I feel bereaved and very sad when I see the VOLVO emblem adorning overpriced Chinese tat!

It’s ridiculous that some cars cost more than our house did to buy!

They’re too lazy to even bother digging up anything round here. Instead, they just park their van somewhere inconvenient, set 20 cones up, then put out their traffic lights (set so that they only let 3 vehicles through each time, then a 5 minute wait until 3 come the other direction).

Thanks for the video, Geoff. Definitely better off running older stuff. The unnecessary roadworks are endemic, the 3-way installation is especially common. The reasons are indirectly to disrupt the motorist. I'm pretty sure they have to have a boundary around soil mounds for H&S, and that when/if the workforce returns they need to be protected by masses of space that they don't need. The main speciality is to set up the barriers and lights then clear off for a few days. They seem to be incapable of spending 10 mins setting them up only when needed. The Santa Fe is the Disco they never built. Nice Puma in the background at the garage at the end.
