Mortske....those cheap air filters i spray with spectre oil....a few sprays and thats it! You want stuff to stick to the filter so it never makes it in the engine.. my intake is clean as a whistle!

been down this road... ir was recommended to install a fuel pressure gauge, or a warning light... so when fuel pressure drops below 5psi the lift pump needs to be changed or it will takeout the vp44... love the truck

When I removed my 2001 dodge vp44 pump there was a bracket under the pump that held the pump to the block with 2 Allen wrench bolts found that out later trying to use a pry bar ended up breaking the bolts and bending the bracket

I remember when Dodge first started putting those Cummins diesels in their pickups. They tested the hell out of them first. They wore out three pickups before the first engine either gave out or needed rebuilding. I wanted one really bad but I live in the city so they were not practical for me. 26 year old truck with 250k miles on it is less than 10k per year.

I got A 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 3.9 V6 5 speed Standard cab long box. That i bought in Mid May of 2019. Just over 26000 Original miles. A Tiny bit of rust on the Drivers side. NO options Not even an Am radio Crank Windows A BARE bones truck 2 wd. 12/08/24 3.07 Pm cst USA

You can turn the key on and off three times and it will run codes across where the mileage is.

Couple notes from my 2nd gen ownership. Fuse with the holder on it is meant to be pulled outward when parked for long periods as it disconnects anything that draws on the battery so the battery(ies) don’t drain. The factory front license plate bracket does in fact foolishly hang down from the bottom of the metal bumper instead of sitting perfectly in the license plate sized rectangle in the bumper, many ended up getting crunched and then reattached there instead. The factory mirrors (non tow for sure, not sure about tow) jitter while driving down the road, that’s chrystler for ya.

You must have no less then 5 pounds of fuel pressure right before the pump at full throttle to make the vp44 last . And they will last at least 150 to 200 thousand. So always have a performance lift pump in it and you will be good

Is the transmission that bad I just use mine to cruise around and don’t haul big loads or any crazy stuff, I’m like if you keep it at least stock or not with a to crazy tune I think it would hold up pretty good!

Give the blower box under the passenger-side dash a decent bang, and it may kick the blower motor on. My '07 has this issue, and it makes it come back to life almost every time.

Those are real bad about the intake heater grid bolt or nut falling off into the number 6 cylinder. Ive had two Ram 2500s, one was a 97 2500 and a 2010 2500. The dash broke on both. The 97 heater grid bolt broke off, actually it was melted off, and fell into the number 6 cylinder. New engine or another truck. I don't think much of cummins. That heater grid is a defect that i don't buy.
