At least nobody died! Tho those sea serpents will be nightmare fuel for me… thanks.
ОтветитьI remember going on this when my family went to Disney World in 1978.
Ответитьthis is sad
ОтветитьIt wasn't abandoned. Disney retooled it and transformed it into a "Finding Nemo" ride.
ОтветитьRoad on that when I was a kid! Really fun actually went underwater on rail tracks
ОтветитьI wish they’d bring this back! I also thought it would’ve been cool to have “live” mermaids in the lagoon too.
ОтветитьIt's a shame it closed. I remember visiting it and I remember seeing a giant octopus that was submerged and had trapped a submarine similar to the one we were in. It was terrifying.
ОтветитьWhy the hell would bury the other subs and not make money out of them. I'm sure there are a lot of disney degens that would buy a sub for a lot of money.
ОтветитьI had the pleasure of riding the 20,000 Leagues ride. That was back before Disney turned into complete trash.
ОтветитьI remember riding that as a kid with my parents and sister. It's what sparked my interest in Marine biology. Unfortunately I never was able to pursue that part, instead doing 20 years in the USN. I loved that ride.
ОтветитьI rode this ride as a kid. It was awesome.
ОтветитьI'm pretty surprised that Disney didn't try to auction off the subs maybe another park might have refurbished a couple of them or that could be a crown jewel of a rich Disney collector
ОтветитьIt's likely they kept the ride vehicle in the best shape and put it in the Disney Vault.
ОтветитьI don’t understand why they buried the submarines when they could have auctioned them off to fans…just seems like a waste and kind of a pollution of the land
ОтветитьAs a kid in the late 70's, this ride blew my mind. That moment when it felt like we were submerging blew my mind. I think I rode it 5x that day? My grandfather was over it after the first time. But he kept going with me over and over. This ride, like my youth is gone. All good. Moving on.
ОтветитьO
ОтветитьThey could have easily made this a seasonal ride and cut operational costs
Coupled with occasionally adding shows with special features like a dancing actual mermaid or a real king triton/ Poseidon
It could have lasted a lot longer
I rode this in the late 1970's- early 1980's as a kid
ОтветитьThey keep threatening to close the subs in CA, but I think there'd be a riot.
ОтветитьI went to Euro Disney on a 2014 high school French trip and it always amazes when I hear how it had initially flopped. the place is amazing!
ОтветитьI got hurt on this ride in 1984. Bittersweet memory.
ОтветитьThis and Haunted Mansion were my favorite attractions!
ОтветитьIn my fictional world, that never get abandoned and still successful
ОтветитьWow...I still have pictures at Sea World from 1984 and that green boat thing was in the back ground...I was 5 yrs old and I'm 45 now!!!
ОтветитьSomething nobody said anything about was another reason it closed was because of diesel fuel prices. The subs ran on diesel fuel. Found that out from another work that worked their they had to stay late to refule up the subs every night.
Ответить...💯...💜...🙏🏽
ОтветитьLoved this in the early 90s, as well as the OG autotopia at Disneyland
ОтветитьThey chose profets over memories.
ОтветитьBy far, one of the most iconic Disney rides ever
ОтветитьI experienced the one in florida...i didnt like it
ОтветитьWent on the ride my mum panicked so much
ОтветитьWho sows virtue reaps honour.
ОтветитьI rode this ride in the early 90's it was fun, but very hot in the sub.
ОтветитьI went on this ride ONE TIME. ONCE. I remember not being impressed and made my skin jump out. I wanted off that ride so fast as soon as it started to move. I don't remember who rode it with me or I just went alone. Shrug I definitely remember the wear on the ship!
ОтветитьIt is impossible to feel grateful and depressed in the same moment.
ОтветитьDavid subscribes to the "stuff your tent into the bag" strategy over nicely folding it.
ОтветитьBest friends are like old tomatoes and shoelaces.
ОтветитьThe thought manifests as the word. The word manifests as the deed. The deed develops into habit. And the habit hardens into character.
ОтветитьLet us revere, let us worship, but erect and open-eyed, the highest, not the lowest; the future, not the past!
ОтветитьThree years later, the coffin was still full of Jello.

ОтветитьShe was disgusted he couldn’t tell the difference between lemonade and limeade.
ОтветитьBy accepting yourself and being fully what you are, your presence can make others happy.
ОтветитьIf you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.
ОтветитьOmg the submechaniphobia of it all lol I am having a really hard time looking at the decaying showpieces inside the show building 😵💫
ОтветитьWas looking forward to going on my favorite ride for my 10th birthday only to discover it was closed for maintenance and would never come back. Still mad at Disney for that.
ОтветитьI grew up in Florida and was lucky enough to be at Disney world on day two. 20,000 leagues under the sea was a ride that I always wanted to go on, but in my many visits as a child, rarely did I get to enjoy it. More often than not, it was closed for one reason or another. I was sad to see it go. It really sparked my young imagination! I still wish that Disney would bring it back in a more modern form. But alas, they tore it down and now it's Ariel's grotto, a character meet and greet spot. 😢
Ответитьthis ride was so badass when i was a kid.
ОтветитьThere is one at brightons aquarium tho i dont know if its the same one or there own one
ОтветитьThe 20,000 Leagues was my FAV ride back then.
