Brett Stephens is nothing but a propagandist for the state of Israel. None of his arguments hold up to scrutiny unless you simply ignore reality and accept the narrative the Israeli government wants people to believe. Unfortunately, the record of the state’s actions is known to people around the world so fewer people than ever accept the Israeli government’s narrative.

Mr. John mearsheimer has a cutting humor when he says that liberals want Benyamin Netanyahu to be replaced by person with quality like Thomas Jefferson in middle east.😂. But suffering of Jews in Northern Israel should end now.

Just on the “magnanimity’ of Israel withdrawal from the internationally recognized illegal occupations over the decades as being an ‘olive branch’ that is not at all laudable… using the same logic, one could argue that the USA withdrawal from Iraq was an act of wanting peace. But this would immediately realized as an idiotic attempt to an argument !!

Palestinian leaders do not want a state alongside Israel. They want the issue to energise their project to destroy Israel. Hence they always turn it down and if they did accept it, the leaders know they will be assassinated.

I really like Bret Stephens, but with his absurd statements about Netanyahu, he serves as a mouthpiece for the left-wing opposition in Israel, which will do everything to oust Netanyahu because otherwise it will not come to power.
In addition, he may not be aware of the reason for his statements, but he has a strong desire to please the "democrats" to whom he belongs.
The problem with the left (everywhere) is that it calls itself democratic/liberal and is as far from it as possible.
Just for the information of Mr. Brett Stevens, Netanyahu is one of the great leaders of the State of Israel. He is a liberal at heart. His party has been (and still is) democratic since its inception, and he is not going anywhere

Mearsheimer is unwatchable, such an annoying prick he is. His repulsive manner of speaking overshadows anything he has to say. Having read a couple of his books (one actually a collection of articles), I can give the good news to folks here that he has nothing worthwhile to convey anyway. Spend your precious time on more profitable videos.

Bret Stephens' arguments are hilariously weak. His psychological projection in terms of foreign policy is so far off the charts it reminds one of the old pirate maps. "Here there be monsters."

Bret wants a Palestinian state too if the likes of him, decide where, how large and who would "rule over it". The key is there should be little or no palestinian in the land they used to live in!

You are misleading the viewers and listeners!!!!!! "The Palestinians" are used as a tool against a Jewish state, mainly for religious reasons. The Palestinian Authority is ready for two states on the condition that one is Islamic Palestinian and the other multinational so that they can take it demographically!!!! There is not a single Palestinian leader who will recognize a Jewish state, this contradicts religion.

This is such a fascinating debate!
Here we have a political science professor with his hands tied behind his back confronting the arguments of two right wiing opinion influencers pontificating on civilization and rationality, while propagating lies, distortions and deceit about people in countries they deem not equal to their Euro-American civilization, while seriously trying to solve current political problems!
Really ! ... That's your idea of fair and balanced debate?

Mearsheimer is right. Tom Friedman is a liberal Jew who supported the wars after September 11, 2001. Ditto for Bret Stephens. Both of them are basically warmongers. The root problem is in the Bible. Did any one read it? David Ben Gurion reputedly said: "I don't believe in God but God gave me Palestine." That sums up the whole Zionist enterprise. It was always a political endeavor -- basically atheist but founded on scripture, i.e., the biblical admonition from Jahweh (or Jehovah) to destroy all other religions and all other peoples. Zionists are megalomaniacs. They think they are destined to rule the world, meaning, to rule over all gentiles who are not human beings and exist merely to serve Jews. This ushers in the Messiah (who already appeared 2,000 years ago but remains unknown to Jews) and the anti Christ. All of this is happening in real time, as I write this. Pray people! God exists and is a God of love, forgiveness and compassion -- but definitely not the Jewish god who has always been a genocidal lunatic.

I think it's very disingenuous for Brett to not directly address the role Israel has played in sabotaging peace negotiations. He also refuses to engage with the idea that an oppressed group of people will bear anger and resentment toward those oppressing them. Part of engaging in good faith is acknowledging and directly addressing specific critiques. The fact that he just dodges those issues without engaging the substance of the questions, is really disappointing.
