Nagardhan Fort in Ramtek, Nagpur

What we have here is the Nagardhan Fort near Ramtek in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Nagardhan also known as Nandivardhan was the first capital of the Vakatakas. It is 34 kms northeast of Nagpur and about 5kms south of Ramtek.

The present fort is said to have constructed by Raghuji Bhosale I around 1740 CE. One of the interesting features of the fort is a temple which is situated below the ground level. The idol is placed on a ledge of a well like structure.
