TBH the fact that you have to abandon them eventually is exactly why i never wanted to play this game.

When I was in fifth grade, my classmate told me that those two judges from the competitions would say “sugar honey iced tea” if you didn’t pick up your dog’s poop on a walk so I picked up my dog’s poop religiously so I wouldn’t get cussed out by a virtual character lol

My mom knew I wasn’t sleeping when I was playing this game because I’d always be screaming at the dog to sit during the obedience show

I kept my puppy for years and eventually the other owners told me to get rid of it and get a new one

my brother lost my ds at the mall when he was like 10 and i was 13 and it still had my copy of nintendogs in it. i never let him forget that he lost my nintendog. goldie my baby i miss u every day :(

This video made me break out my old copy of Lab & Friends, and a couple of the dogs had been named after my first two dogs, who have both since passed away, and it was really nice to see them again. I made sure they all got fed and watered, got a bath, and got petted, and then I saved and turned the game off.

Then you got to the bit about the Pet Hotel, and I went "yeah... I should probably drop them off there" and turned the game on to do just that. Turns out I had a fourth dog at the Hotel, so I brought him out and petted him after dropping off my other three dogs, and then went back to try and drop him off. Turns out you can't drop off all of your dogs, so one of them always has to stay alone at home. What this means for Eddy, though, is that he never could have put his dog up at the Dog Hotel before going to Orlando for the weekend, so that one's on Nintendo.

why did it make me genuinely sad that you had to leave a video game dog.

I had such a hard time getting the dog to recognize their name. Harder than dark souls

When i was like 10 i was so obsessed with nintendogs i had a dream that aliens came down from space & gave me a deluxe version of nintendogs & to this day i wish that dream was real

my parents started playing nintendogs when they started discussing having kids, their labrador is older than me and im also pretty sure she's their favourite child

My first Nintendog was a Corgi named Buddy. He was a frisbee champion. I wish I still had a copy of the game

Watching this reminded me of when my sister got this game for her DS and I tried it out. Adopted a German Shepard I named Lucky, gave him an adorable blue-white striped mailboy hat, took him to competitions.

My sister got mad one day, took Lucky to the shed out back, and deleted him.

i distinctly remember a kid telling me that your dog would run away if you left them too long, and i was scared every time i got back on to check on them

this gave me a good chuckle. I really hope to see more videos like this one and the Cooking Mama one, that bring back old nostalgic (or weird and obscure) games.

Your dogs get taken away and put into a shelter if you leave them for long enough.
I was only allowed to use my Nintendo DS during holidays. The longest time between holidays were 6 weeks, so that wasn't long enough, but one year I wasn't allowed to have it at all and the next time I opened it back up a textbox appeared that said my dogs were taken away due to neglect. I could adopt new ones but there was no way for me to get my two dogs back that were not in the dog hotel.
RIP Mags, the female Husky that I wanted to name Max because I thought it was male and didn't know how to spell Max

???, the male Golden Retriever that I forgot the name of because I hated its personality because I thought it kept bullying Mags (which is not true in hindsight)

I never had this game but one of my cousins did and I always took his cartridge to put in my DS so I could play it. He never understood that it started a new game and didn’t override his anytime it was on my DS.

ahhhhh, this brings back so many memories, i got the dalmatian version with a pink ds lite for my xmas present as a kid. it was the best thing ever back then.

One of the first DS games I ever bought with my own money! I saved up for weeks, planned out exactly which dog I wanted, drew pictures of it from the screenshots online, and daydreamed of my dream Nintendog: a dark-haired cavalier king charles spaniel. On the wonderous day, I named him Ronno.

Like many, I was never allowed to own a dog, so I poured my soul into Ronno. I would even walk around outside irl with the DS in Bark Mode pretending that the real life walking was more enriching for my digital puppy lol. It was cool getting to meet other people's dogs in the most random places; I wish Nintendo kept this social aspect in their games, everything on Switch feels very sanitized.

I got this game when I was 6. I am now 25. The walk Archie and the competition Archie are the same guy????? I feel foolish...I always pictured walk Archie as Archie from the comics.

I've been cleaning out my old DS games this month and I wasn't going to touch Nintendogs out of fear for the state my dogs will be in, but this video has convinced to log in, one last time, and send my dogs to the dog hotel.

i find scentbird to be a pretty shitty company, a while back i had a subscription for about 3~ months before i had financial issues and decided it was best to cancel it. i had THOUGHT i cancelled it when i clicked cancel and it took me to a seperate page and asked me how i liked my products etc. etc. because i thought they were just asking me questions post cancelation, i did not answer them and went on with my month, the next month they charged me and refused to refund me or allow me to cancel because theyd already shipped the products to me and could not prevent them from arriving. i then had to go through like 10 pages of popups giving me offers to convince me to stay, asking me about products id already reviewed. shit company, from my experience anyways.

There was a hack in the game where you could play music for your dog right before you left and your dog would fall asleep and STAY ASLEEP until you came back the next time (even if that was months later). Your dog would still be dirty and hungry but at least they wouldn't run away and (if I remember correctly) not be angry at you

i have watched this video no less than 10 times because reliving nostalgia is the only way im being through unemployment

This game was a banger. I really liked the special toy your dog would find on a walk such as the helicopter you could fly around the house.
