I hear and see you
ОтветитьAwesome news about Seattle! Wolfie will love the music scene. My hopes are you are also fitting in a visit with John Cogley and team. Oh and there’s the food…
ОтветитьU seem to be alive
ОтветитьThe colors do sound amazing.
ОтветитьDr Oto posted in Instagram that she’s having serious health problems.
ОтветитьIt was 3am in Australia when you started your live. Did think about getting up for it. 😂
ОтветитьUndersea green is ultramarine blue, (PB29), quin gold (PO48), and nickel azo yellow (PY150). Could you mix a version of it with your palette?
ОтветитьGreat video and you’re so cheerful. It’s obvious you love colors!
ОтветитьHello from Malaysia!
ОтветитьI keep fat dots of pink & black or sepia (not in a pan) on a corner of the travel palette. Can sneak o few fav extras.
ОтветитьI'm sooooo late, but excited to watch this while I paint!
ОтветитьSo sad I missed this Livestream. It was so much fun. Have a wonderful trip. I thought I might be able to join you for the meet up in Seattle, but sadly I cannot. Love these explorations in color with you sweet Sarah! ❤
ОтветитьHit up Blick while you are in Seattle. I believe DS doesn't have a store front any longer. Make sure to let Blick know you have an online account and you can get the discounted price. You must have both New Gamboge and Quin Gold....fyi...haha I stuff a piece of the watercolor stick into my pans and use it as dry watercolor. A lot more economical than tubes. You can even granulating colors. They are generally $9 - 12 a stick. I love them
ОтветитьP.s. I love seeing your beautiful family❣️
ОтветитьI'm at the part of the great debate between Green Apatite Genuine versus Undersea Green. I would go for Green Apatite genuine, and take some Quinacridone Burnt Orange as well - if you add some of that, you will basically have Undersea Green, but it gives you the utlity of mixing a lot of other browns. But also: Undersea Green is just French Ultramarine + Quinaridone Gold, and you are already taking regular Ultramarine blue & Quin. Gold, so... you can just mix an ever-so-slightly cooler version with those 2 colors anyways.
Think how many colors you can get to replace the whiskey weight. Woooohoooo! Seriously though, check out the DS sticks. They aren't so good for use like wc pencils, but are the most concentrated formula. The cool thing is you can cut them in slices and nestle 2 or 3 together in a full pan. Good for greens or blues that you often mix in various proportions . They won't get mushy unless you soak them for a while. They are cheaper than tubes and pans, easier to travel with IMO. There are a limited selection of colors, but some of the primatek are in the collection, and I've noticed no difference to panned paint.
Have a wonderful holiday and safe travels. I do the same joyous self-torture before trips; finally started a little sketchbook with swatches of all the things I finally decide on. Makes it easier the next time I'm packing my gear, just have to fine tune for current passions.
Thankyou so much for showing what bronzite genuine can do ! I've had it for years and never played with it ,boy have I lost out.!!
ОтветитьI have a couple of small Seawhite wc sketchbooks dedicated to swatching for all my wc and gouache colours. They are labelled 'Colours' which I pull out for quick reference..they also have my many trial triad or near triad mixes ( plus white for gouache) Handy to have all in one place
ОтветитьJust wondering what everyone does with their water when they are finished painting?
I’m going on a trip to Cornwall soon and I really want to try painting outside but I don’t think I can just dump the water on the ground. Any advice would be really helpful.
Daniel Smith is pretty expensive here in New Zealand too but it's still cheaper than Winsor and Newton and roughly equal to Schmincke. There are a lot of brands we don't get here and not everyone ships here either. Recently I discovered a store here selling Holbein and I bought a few tubes to try out. I quite like the Verditer blue, it looks like our bright summer skies. My daughter likes painting flowers so I bought a few colors I would never normally have bought like, shell pink and lilac. Holbein's Leaf green is a lot like Daniel Smith's green gold and H's greenish yellow a lot like D S's rich green gold. I ended up creating a flower palette for my daughter using some of the new pinks and greens mixed with our existing Daniel Smith paints. The Holbeins were on sale and I could pick up any two 15ml tubes for the price of one series 3+ Daniel Smith tube. So far I'm really liking them. I can see me moving forward with my basic colors in Holbein and special granulating colors coming from a mixture of the more expensive brands.
ОтветитьI bought my portable painter the very first video you tried your 1 st one out. It's perfect for me too. I've never wanted for anything else
Lately I've been thinking if a second one... currently I use for gouache. But may add a watercolor one.
I'm in Michigan. If it were a drivable distance I would love to meet up and sketch. Maybe when you do an upstate New York someday
Oooh I'd be super interested in the London meet, I'd love to learn more about it!
ОтветитьIn defense of Wolfie, the music was super snoozy
ОтветитьI love the bottom palette color selection shown in the beginning! Those color are just gorgeous.
ОтветитьWe need a similar video with Gouache!! <3
ОтветитьI have also had this issue with the Schmincke and primatek colors that I use them very little and somehow they get empty the fastest of all the colors I have. Could it be the formulation? Cause I could see the primateks running out quickly, cause they're very dry, but the Schminckes I use are just normal colors and very smooth and wet, not the granulating kind, so I really don't know. Thanks for the video! I loved it 🧡
ОтветитьLove your art and dedication and I find your channel incredibly soothing. One of my faves.
Quick tip artist to artist: you can always gesso over the swatch pages and turn them into something new. Unless you absolutely need those swatches
You can cut tubes open with an exacto knife to get even more of the last little bit out
ОтветитьLoved joining you with your guide through your selection of colours for your hols. I ordered 2 tubes of watercolour from Jackmans using your link but when I got there I used the bank hols discount. Hopefully Jackmans will pick up that I used your link so that they know what a great rep you are….🥳 I’m used to half pans but you’ve converted me to tubes after seeing the lush colours at Jackmans, so I’m just dipping my toe in🌈 🎊
ОтветитьI think you should just take two watercolor pallets and the gouache. Stick one in your bra if you have to 😅
ОтветитьI bought 12 5 ml tubes of the Jackmans paint. It is very nice! The tubes look exactly like the ones you have. They do look small, but say 5ml on them. Seem to just about fill a full pan. Are your samples 5ml?
ОтветитьGet the dot cards from Daniel Smith when your in Seattle. Then you have a small amount of the colors you’re missing.
ОтветитьThank you so much for the section on Jackman watercolours and for the 10% discount. I'd never heard of the company and I love that they are British and that they are charging less for their colours than the main. Can't wait to receive my order 😊
Have a wonderful time on your trip to America 😊
Have you ever tried Chinese Color Chips? They seem intriguing and don't cost as much as tube paints.
ОтветитьAbout DS watercolor sticks: they’re not really meant to draw with. They’re sticks of watercolor pigment without the water. You can cut a chunk of stick and put it in a pan and use it like any other watercolor pan. Two big advantages: the sticks are cheaper than tubes and are all the same price. There are several Primatek colors in stick form which is a real savings. Secondly, because they’re dry you can fly with them without fear of their being confiscated. Sandy Allnock has a great video about ways to use them.
P.S. You’ve convinced me to try Potter’s Pink. I kept telling myself I didn’t need it, but now I’m going to give it a try.
It's so nice to see someone else swatch colour combos to see what I need to sooth my addiction (haha) I only have Bronzite in the dot card so it may be on my list of things to purchase, and that titanium buff ... I need to find a use for it as it is lovely too! Wish I could pop down to see you next month, but we are heading east (BC to SK and MB) while you are heading west (NY to WA).
Ответить1 or 2 little pallets???????😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьSchminke makes a 18 1/2 pan pallet l, i remove tray that holds pans then cut a piece of pllastic ..then use glue dots to hold down 1/4 pans for travel..that way i have. Room for all of my favorites whether beach, city, forest or botanticals ..i have it covered. Around here when i know what i am facing for color pallet , i have 2 portable painters set up for seasons..and near home...
ОтветитьI could not do with one palette, I need to have 1 of each!
ОтветитьThank you for explaining potters pink. That was helpful for me.
