First of all I'm 58 and I met her on a dating site. I was never interested in anyone under 45. However I lost track of who I was interacting with. My Filipina and I began having some of the best and deepest conversations. I just assumed that she was over 45 since that was my search criteria. As we continued to interact I narrowed my interactions between her and two other women. Yet when I reflected between them all she was really the best choice among them all.

We had very spiritual signs between us. As well as similar life experiences regarding relationships. Then I decided to look at her page, it blew my mind that she was 30. We've been conversing for nearly a year and it is one of the best relationships that I've had. Since finally looking at her page, the only thing that has displayed a difference because of our age difference, that never came up during our initial discussions, is that she likes the younger entertainers than I do. However we enjoy the same types of music. Other than that we have so much in common that entertainers never come up. I guess when I finally get to spend time with her in person, perhaps those differences will come more to the surface.

I met my wife online when I was 50 and she 41. The web site I used was full of women from SE Asia and the Philippines in their late teens and 20's who were open to meeting men my age and older. I did not end up visiting your country and did not seriously think a good quality long term relationship was likely with anyone younger than 40. I don't think one should categorize everyone to be the same based on age stereotypes, and I don't think age gaps are always reflected in the way you describe. I think often there is a negative disgruntlement by those in both the West and the East, who feel somehow that they were overlooked, and outpaced by those in a different age group. You are not biased Sharon. Your comments are realistic and rational thinkers should realize that sex with a young woman is just a passing fad that wouldn't last as the man gets older. I agree that a woman aged 32-50 is a better "catch" and a young woman by Western standards. Such a woman would make a better partner for a man who has already retired and moves to the Philippines. Even if the young girls have no STI's, there is the potential for the man to be more easily scammed, becoming a father and having to support the woman and her family. I hope you find a decent guy soon.

Several people have said that Sharon is trying to shame Western men and I disagree. I think she is asking us to look at things realistically.
Do you have other common interests, is your health good enough to do other physical activities, are you mentally and emotionally compatible? Do you have similar world views, are your religious beliefs agreeable to each other, what can you do together or talk about when you’re not in bed. Sex alone is not enough to build a serious relationship on.
As someone said in one comment, make sure you have things in common with each other. I don’t know that an age-gap in and of itself is bad if you have similar life experiences.

That's not necessarily true because you got some older cats out here and better shape than some of these young men out here it depends on the character over older man. Mine is a 24 province girl and all her friends have moved away. Her English is nearly perfect and her ability to joke and understand humor is the best part of the relationship which I've never had with women in my own country.
