you know what would've been really peachy? if the french actually fought the germans instead of surrendering and the US reinforced them by land...

Remember reading (idk if it’s true or not) the US Army lied to the soldiers and said they were going on a training exercise instead of an invasion because they were scared a lot of them would go AWOL because it was pretty much a suicide mission

Probably freeze in shock and then tell everyone later how I would of dealt with it, if only the police hadn't got to him first 😂. I like everyone else would love to think I would act the hero but I have been in 2 situations that I would call life threatening and in both I acted in very different ways. One I stood and fought and nearly died, the other I stood in shock and only reacted after to help the guy that had been stabbed. Watched the whole thing unfold in shock as did everyone else. Funny because later everyone was telling a version that sounded very different to the real events? Almost like they didn't want to admit to themselves or others that they froze and didn't know what to do while the event happened?

Decimate means to lose by a factor of 10. So they would of lost only 10%? I'm sure it would of been higher losses?

My great grandpa Guadalupe Innocent Garza was there, he was a Mexican american from eagle pass Texas, the best person I’ve ever known, my hero. luckily he was strong and very active growing up and already new how to swim very well by the age of 19, he is 19 there… as his boat arrived like many others, he swam to the beach, saw his friends drown simply bc they never learned to swim, that was hard for him. he said immediately after getting to the sand a bomb landed near him, he said in order for their stomaches to not combust from the bombs, they would have to breathe through their mouths in and out, in and out, very fast in order for their stomaches and intestines to not burst… crazy stuff. he survived 7 major European battles, he wrote his memoir and it needs to be published! He always reflected on that time..always had very sharp memory, He lived to 89 years old❤

My grandfather was in boot camp during d day and if he was like a year older or in training earlier, he would have been on those beaches and chances are I wouldn’t exist. These men are some of the hardest, strongest, and determined people alive. Always love your vets, they are the reason we as Americans are able to have our freedoms. God bless America 🇺🇸

D Day casualties were low...far from the bloodiest day of the war. Typical inaccuracy of a channel that doesn't care about getting it right.

Dumb move where Americans were killed senselessly. Over 2,500 were moved down... No one knows the total number of deaths due to chaotic nature of the landing.

D-Day was not the bloodiest day of WW2. Not even close. It was a beach side picnic organised once the war in Europe had already been decided at Stalingrad. The first day of the Red Army assault on the Tractor factory cost 48,000 lives in the taking - only to see 46,000 lost as the Nazis took it back the next day. Those TWO DAYS ALONE saw more than ONE THIRD of the United States ENTIRE casualties for WW2 ACROSS ALL theatres of war.

What's amazing is that I got to ride on two types of landing boats in Okinawa in the 60s. They were exactly the ones used during WWII. I think the Navy provided one for us to go to a neighboring island for a picnic.
