I feel so relieved and elated that Professor Jones continues to speak these impenetrable truths to so many types of power. May she be covered in protection from every side. 🙏🏾💙
ОтветитьIt's the legacy, that most people just don't get unfortunately.......
ОтветитьI just brought my hardcover copy to read over MLK JR weekend 🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьI pray Professor's Jones strength and courage. You are a Light 🙏🏿✊🏿👏🏿💐🤸🏿♀️
ОтветитьThank you so much dear oprah ❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьDear hannah 👌👍🙏🙏🧡🧡❣❣❣❣
ОтветитьThank you Professor Nikole H Jones for the 1619 Project. I knew about some of the topics you have touched on before the project was released but of course not all of it. Ever since I was a child I questioned our nations history and as black children we were often told don't worry about it and ignore the past and just more forwards. But I believe black folks can't heal until we honor our ancestors by naming them and by claiming their rage as to what happened to them. And thank you Oprah for finally presenting Professor Jones's work.
Ответить💋💋💋🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🤠🤠🤠🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱💋💋💋💋💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
ОтветитьLORD, help us to "rise to the moment" and work to become one nation under G-D... -Amen!
ОтветитьCan't wait to read it. Thank you both.
ОтветитьHistory is alive
ОтветитьBetter late than never indeed however why is she just now she being Oprah Winfrey acknowledging this great work of essays????
ОтветитьThe public transportation issues of not connecting the city in making it easier for all to move around is a national thing. When I think of Philadelphia Milwaukee or Chicago Detroit Pittsburgh you know places that have received Federal and State dollars to enhance and expand their public transportation systems yet you don't see it so you know then you have the new gentrification throughout the country it's all apropos in the book of essays completely compels us to really look at several issues with Solutions
ОтветитьI love Nikole, glad to have met her connected with her! she is amazing and a gift to the black race!
ОтветитьI love this lady, she is so smart. The fact that not only her work — but her as an individual, as well — says a lot more about her attackers than it does about her or her work. As a bookseller, I was so happy to put her book in many hands. Many came back and said it opened their eyes. She’s done the country a great service, in my mind. Good for her. Thank you for having her on, Oprah.
ОтветитьI think it is equelly important that the same thing is happening in Palestine today also because of America that still supports these horrible acts. Feel like there is mostly silence on this topic, thats unfortunate. The country that recognizes it is SOUTH AFRICA, that says a lot❤️
ОтветитьWinfrey asked Jones was she surprised by the resistance it has received. Surprisingly see answered yes, but then went on to say she expected a measure of it, as it was an invocative effort on her part. I had to make sure I heard her correctly. I was thinking provocative, but she in fact did say invocative, meaning she hoped to win the opposition over to the Black perspective of the history of the country. She did this in the mist of Trumpism, the MAGA movement and far-Right conservatism, not to mention riots over what Black many Black people, if not most saw as a string of unjustified killings of Black people, and a rally by far-Right extremist that resulted in a death and numerous injuries. I'd say in the context of that, it is more likely to provoke what is not wanted than to get what is desired, and that has been the case.
That being said Hannah Jones has made other provocative or invocative comments prior to her 1619 Project. She has made the controversial comments that gentrification is not necessarily a bad thing for Black people, and that Black children would benefit from having a White child in her classroom. These comments are certainly not in line with woke orthodoxy, so why have they been ignored? She presents them as conductive to our betterment as a group. They are also consistent with the newer approach to solving concentrated poverty. It is believed that large pockets of poverty perpetuate the conditions. The older housing voucher strategy, put too many low income people in the same community, and many of these communities may have been in a decline themselves, or had significant social ills, even though they were in suburban communities and predominately White. The newer strategy of mixed income housing aimed at putting people in more effluent communities, which have even better amenities, especially the schools, but put them into them in smaller numbers - to spread them out so as not to have too many people of the same background living as neighbors. It is hoped that the better amenities and the social culture of these more affluent communities, will rug off, so to speak, on the new residents and thus prevent the perpetuation of the culture of poverty. This new strategy has been in effect long enough for there to be adequate data to measure its success. Why have those who see themselves as our leaders not reported to us how this new strategy has faired? It seems right in Hannah-Jones' wheelhouse.
Are we really looking for solutions to our problems? Why hasn't the federal government reported on this? Can equity let alone equality be achieved, if we still live separately and un-equal? Is what we really want, as a group, segregation, but with prosperity? If we aren't being real/realistic how can we expect others to me anymore than we are? Sure half the country is in denial about the countries history and true creed, but are we also not true to what we say we are about and want? There need to be an equivalent acknowledgement of the history of the ongoing impact of our not facing reality and being true to ourselves as well.
That we can utter the words Back lives Matter in the mist of over half a century of an increase in the level of violence and the level of heinousness of the violence among us, is telling. We are ignoring it, as our chickens continue to come home and roost. There can be no progress for us as a group while the disorder and violence continues in so many of our communities. Government policy alone does account for the existence of the levels we have reached. A true history of of our complicity in helping to get to this condition, is clearly there, for those who choose to simply see it.
We are in the decade of the twenty-twenties and we could use the 2020 hindsight that our contemporary history teaches us to resolve our internal problems, during this decade. It is moving past quickly. If we are not yet ready to get serious, when will we ever?
I didn't know most of what they spoke about in this video and it's disturbing to hear that enslaved black women were treated as property, and could not be raped and yet assaulted by their owners. I will never understand why humans can treat other humans in such a way and I'm grateful for all those who paved the way for today's civil and human rights. On the flipside, Nikole is right, we are on the brink of democracy falling into darkness - I really hope and pray that does not happen, however it takes it's people to keep it thriving. It's insanity that this is even in question today, but it is....
ОтветитьIronically, nikole hannah jones left Anthony johnson out of her pop up book. Anthony johnson landed in the Virginian colonies in 1621, somehow he escaped her attention. Who was Anthony johnson, an indentured negro servant from Africa who in 1654 became America's first legal slave owner by court decision. Why is America's first slave owner not mentioned in her book? I wonder 🤔 why?
Ответитьcan you imagine that someone with the ignorance like Nikole Hannah-Jones thinks there is racism in the Star spangled banner?
ОтветитьThank you 🫅 Queens for your brilliance!!!
Ответить👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
ОтветитьThank you Professor Jones
ОтветитьGoing to post on facebook, Now that she gave those whobhave an ear a little more information what are you going to do witj it???
Ответить1. Use History - History is frozen in place to where its always racist/bigoted. This appeals to emotions & gives the speaker credibility.
2. Manipulate The Data- Use the inequality of outcome data (after intentionally reopening the wounds of history) & matter of factly state that it reflects an inequality of opportunity. (Remember, correlation does not always mean causation).
3. Bury The Lede - Indirectly assert a world view based entirely on power dynamics, talk about privilege, fragility, dogwhistling, backlash, even dabble in constructs. But under no circumstances voice the main belief that white people sometime in the past decided to use skin color to "invent" the concept of race as a power device to oppress certain black & black adjacent races, which is a conspiracy theory. Racism, sadly, was extremely pervasive in the past, and still exists all over the world today...yet, there is no evidence that one race invented it.
It reveals that this is not a theory based in honesty & good faith. It's designed as a power play that weaponizes bitterness, pain, and the saddest moments of our History.
The Civil Rights Era was righteous & successful because it was based in a truth, good faith, and the goodness in humanity. It did not require a world of postmodern power dynamics & critical theory to be effective or even to be understood.
Ahhh....... Pennywise is back!
ОтветитьTwo Harpys who have done more to rip the country apart than anyone in the last 20 years
ОтветитьOprah is an evil woman.
ОтветитьTwo questions, First is zmrs Jones a Christian?Second, Does The Holy Bible speak of Discrimination against all People of all races? Some Black Folks where Slaveowners(That should end reparations completely.)I pray that Mrs Jones find Jesus Christ as well as Oprah Winfrey!PS,Christian Black Male, God bless!❤Correction, first Sentence Mrs Jones,my apology!❤
ОтветитьMajority of slaves within in the African Diaspora went to modern day Brazil and slavery didn’t end in Brazil until the 1880’s. Her saying majority of slaves were in the US is down right false.
Ответить🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ответить10 out of 10!
19 non-fiction essays, 70% of the book written by historians, and 36 poem and/or fiction stories alongside chronological dated events in between each non-fiction essay. The best book I've ever read on American slavery and perfectly connects the past to our present day racism, disproportionate injustices, and inequalities. I've read more than once while most haven't read at all who have been indoctrinated to dismiss such a wealth of knowledge. Plus, over 1000 endnotes to site the sources that are in the project. A+ project!!!
Beautiful. Powerful. Perfect. Thank you so much Oprah, for highlighting this monumental work, in this watershed moment. We need this work. I absolutely and deeply appreciate learning about the pieces you highlighted here -- gives me a better context for understanding the social determinants of health impacting my commumity. I am ready to read this book.❤❤❤ Nicole, I do believe we are ready as a nation to create something new. We all who are on the side of truth, love, and justice must believe together. So blessed to listen to this video today.❤❤❤
ОтветитьThe Nicole H Jones. Until we get. Reparations we are still under the thumbs of the colonizers. " Let's not Ster up the natives. Give them some food shelter and a few nickles and dime. They will be happy. But do not give them 40 acres and a mule.
ОтветитьProfessor Jones,
Socially and politically where our country is . . . I want to thank you for talking to Oprah and speaking to the world about your story and your truth. It means a great deal for sure ❤
Interesting! That date 1619 was a heavily recorded date. So, I checked the Virginia shipping records of that time and they dont mention any slave ships! The 1619 Project is a lie! It wasn't a Slave Trade; BUT, it was Transportation of EUROPEAN CONVICTS to the New World.

I wish Ms. Jones could be a guest on Bill Maher's Club Random just so I could watch her set him straight with his, "Get over it" narrative.
ОтветитьIts Amerkkka. Of course they don't your narrative out their.
ОтветитьGreat Work Oprah. Keep on doing the amazing work that you do to make our world a better place for everyone. Thank you. God has great blessings in store for you.❣
ОтветитьExcellent 13 minutes of my time with 2 exceptionally brilliant women!
ОтветитьGET INFORMED: ANGOLA IS A COUNTRY IN SOUTH WESTERN AFRICA! 🇦🇴
SAY IT, A N G O L A 🇦🇴 FORMERLY THE KINGDOM OF NDONGO! THE KINGDOM THAT BIRTHED THE GREAT QUEEN NZINGA MBANDI, ACKNOWLEDGE OUR IMPORTANCE TO THE CREATION AND DEVELOPTMENT OF THE NEW WORLD! AMERICA! DURING THE TRANSATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE, THE PORTUGUESE, SPANISH AND DUTCH SHIPPED THOUSANDS OF OUR ANCESTORS TO THE AMERICAS, THEY BUILT MANY OF THOSE NATIONS! THERE IS ANGOLAN BLOOD IN MANY PEOPLE IN THE AMERICAS TODAY, BUT WE HAVE BEEN FORGOTTEN BY THE WORLD, WE ARE IGNORED.
ANGOLA MAXIMUM PRISON IN LOUSIANA TODAY, STANDS ON WHAT WAS "THE ANGOLA PLANTATION". THE ANGOLA PLANTATION IN LOUISIANA WAS A TOP PRODUCING PLANTATION IN LOUSIANA WHICH HOUSED HUNDREDS OF SLAVES FROM ANGOLA, THE AFRICAN COUNTRY, FOR AROUND A CENTURY BEFORE IT WAS TURNT INTO A PRISON!
THERE IS ALSO A CITY IN INDIANA NAMED ANGOLA, WHICH ALSO HAS TIES TO SLAVES FROM ANGOLA, THERE IS A VILLAGE IN NEW YORK NAMED ANGOLA ALSO, WHERE PEOPLE THAT DID MISSIONARY WORK IN ANGOLA-AFRICA LIVED.
Why do Americans never pick a book and acknowledge the important role slaves directly from ANGOLA played in building that nation, IN ALL THE COLONIES, New Amsterdam Dutch colony (Now New York), Virginia Colony - Jamestown (English colony), Lousiana (French colony) and others. The first 11 male slaves to set foot in New Amsterdam were from Angola and Congo, the women that followed as well, the first slave ship to land in Virginia had a dozen Angolan slaves as well! It is documented that the first African to set foot in the free world (America), with the explorers, was an Angolan. USA needs to recognize ANGOLA and our ancestors as an important part of their history, we literally built NEW YORK, LOUSIANA, VIRGINIA and more. Anthony Johnson was a born ANGOLAN who was the first black slave owner, vast land owner and tobacco farmer in Virginia. In New Amsterdam Modern day New York, Manhattan Greenwich village, Central park, little Italy and more were lands given to freed Angolan and Congolese slaves, Paulo D'Angola, Anthony D'Angola were some of them. In 1641, THE FIRST recorded marriage in New Amsterdam between black people was between Anthony D'Angola and Lucie D'Angola, this is recorded in the Dutch Reformed church records until this day!
Why have ANGOLANS been wiped out from American history? Why are Angolans ignored?
There are so many lies and cover ups about America, to this day, hidden in plain sight, is a suffering that goes unnoticed because we were taught it was normal life. This isn't the life God had planned for us all. And it continues to unravel the more that we can come together and acknowledge it in every category, come together as the real WE of We The People, and rise up against the elite that have been puppeteers to us all from the beginning.
ОтветитьNow, in 2024 white man fears himself being "replaced" which is no theory but fact. Forcing another ethic to breed so you profit in selling of your own offspring could at some point say 100 years, comeback to bite you in the Melon. Thank you Nikki J.
ОтветитьOprah the huckster is at it again!
ОтветитьRace-baiting, ideological propaganda that has been debunked by serious historians in a very very big way.
ОтветитьQuestion: Are vis president her family owned slaved 1,000s and you're going to vote for her we are all from Africa just different parts shame on you all
