This reminded me of 2 stories so enjoy them both:

Story 1: I hated when my volleyball coach said "if I can do it, you can do it" like ma'am you've been doing this for longer than I've been alive, you're in shape and I've never been through a round of conditioning before, so no, your ability does not equal my ability to do something.

Story 2: We had the opposite of this issue in my freshman year Uni chior, we weren't trying, we were singing really sloppily, kinda just in autopilot mode. And out our professor/director realized it's because the music was way too simple for our skillset. There was 0 challenge to the point we would mess up a ton because there wasn't any drive to put effort into it. She picked out some harder and more challenging pieces and we got excited and sparkled!

Iiii would have appreciated the honesty to the children instead. Let them know that you were wrong and willing to admit it will build trust, and understanding towards other being able to make mistakes too, along witj confidence in that their emotions aren't always wrong and to be supressed at all costs.

Haha my coach is awesome like this. We kept falling on our cartwheels on beam, so she said she could do them better than us. And then she did it. At five months pregnant, and with sneakers on. Huge respect 🫡

oml my old cheer coach would have a full condition day once a week, like we wouldn’t practice once a week it was js conditioning, n she had a rule that if we couldn’t complete one of the conditions the we would have to do that condition everyday n every practice twice per, she would have us send videos on days we didn’t have practice, till either comp day or till we could all completely get it down on the next conditioning day. it got to the point where the other girls would purposely not t try on the easy conditions so they had energy n were able to do the hard stuff perfectly, until my coach caught on n js picked a random condition for us to do twice a day/practice

Every time I went to my jui-jit-su classes as a kid my coach would do the morning workouts with us. I haven’t gone to the gym recently but I plan to once the holidays are over! That coach is basically an uncle to my family, we’ve known him for around 12 years ish, my family knew him when he just started coaching and now he owns the gym. My older sister is gonna invite him to her wedding next year.
