Hey Clement. Andile is being very careful not to blame corruption and political interference in Transnet planning and plans - because that is the only thing that can hold back good plans as they did at Eskom and SAA. Unfortunately management in general cannot be held accountable for political interference as Andile is articulating (good people in Transnet). For example Thulani Gcabashe warned Mbeki and team that Eskom needed to build new power stations ahead of demand, and they told him we have excess - and did not retain him when his contract expired. Unfortunately by the time they realised he was correct (and Thabo apologised and o the nation) it was too late, and the corrupt guys (including Chancellor House) made sure to benefit and change normal plans to the detriment of Eskom. Transnet is no different ito locomotives and other ICT and consulting fees that were premised on corruption despite a call by some in management to do the right things. And this persisted until end of 2023 when they had to also recover from covid and all stolen infrastructure at a time when the shareholder is also financially challenged. And yes you are right Clement that the shareholder pace of resolving the matter is too slow and full of corrupt individuals trying to influence how the party of its members can benefit (despite knowing well that there is no fat anymore in these entities). Remember how late they used to pay for Eskom diesel during deRuiter era? This is why moving closer to ANC/DA coalition is most important for effective and fast actions from the shareholder, and hopefully CEOs and the boards can be open about present political challenges. BR, Peter

Bring in the private sector. The correct private sector. Not the private sector of comrades who are incompetent friends of people in high places. This is a extremely serious issue. Extremely serious.

Yes please go deep into the details - as you just alluded to the lack of transparency. In fact not giving details shows a lack of unpreparedness and lack of knowledge of your data as a professional, give us numbbers as well, ohh heck even prepare a presentation. State your strategy, present the idea and provide tactical steps to solving your challenges etc, you get the picture. That's preparedness andikwazi kuhlonipha xa ubhuda kangaka kumabona kude phambi kwesizwe nyana kaSangqu.

Ask him about his qualifications, training background and etc, executive roles, how his bringing his various skills and what methods he uses to make decisions and which players play a key role in his decision making, what is his role, and how does his management meet their performance standards and what are their new performance targets both in spending and profits. How are they planning to improve the rails, where are the procuring these equipment's is it new companies or old companies the units, the budget, the acquiring process and commit to monthly or quarterly updates and improvements, lets give the new management a chance to better prepare himself.

There's the problem right there - not prepared and not a clue - and totally out of his depth. Feeding the media a load of bs and attempting to keep everyone in the dark - Eskom tried the mushroom strategy and look where it got them. Hundreds of billions in debt - and moral and ethical bankruptcy.

This is what happens when you employ unqualified, unskilled, inexperienced and corrupt staff.
