Do not be a Japanese idol!!! her as much money as you can she did so well in this video I rarely stay tuned in till the final second on a random style video but I am am American and of all the culture I love so much of Japan found myself getting into the idol stuff cause of rock les spin off of naruto and found I was attracted to the very high pitched voice that seems to become a trope but as deep as I dug I never felt complete there was always something that felt uneasy with the idol culture and this video confirmed all my gut feelings I will not be that 50 year old guy stalking children and after this video it gonna be hard adjusting but I feel like being an idol is clearly a scam on all angles destroying young woman to profit I bet they stack the deck on the groups also so prolly 1 out of 3 is actually treated right so awesome to hear the truth

They're essentially just pimps, but even worse because they lie and pretend they're working for you instead.

Very interesting. Note this is one group out of 1000s and they all operate differently, with different aims, standards, and business practices. Many (especially younger) just do it as a hobby and to dance on stage and live their dream to dance in pretty dresses and have fans. Most do not have no-photography rules , and its really weird for me also to encounter that. Sometimes its to avoid (imagined?) copyright issues because they cover songs, sometimes its to avoid publicity , sometimes its to be able to potentially charge extra for the privilege. I don't encounter it much but as a photographer its a real turn off and like the girl in this video i also think its short sighted. Did the girl mention a salary?

so terrible! so terrible like japanese bosses take an advantage of young girl and make it look normal. all comes from the culture of geisha i guess. i hope that new generation of japanese women will be more open for international culture and will kick japanese mans asses xD very toxic environment to be into ><

Well this kind of Manager "Management"/"Strategy" do appear in every other jobs/industry as well. Where by the manager will favour and pay a couple of the senior people to listen to whatever he/she has to say, while they will hire new people, taking advantage of them, work and abuse them to death, gaslighting them, make them feel like they are always not doing enough and worthless, they are always under the manager and seniors, they must listen to everything the manager/seniors say and cannot raise their opinion. Sadly enough this does not happen everywhere, people just think that it will be the same else where, rather than doing the right thing or just quit the job. They just listen and adopt such toxic behaviour and treat the new people the same, and the cycle continues. I really hope there are law and authorities that was created to specifically enforce these unmoral behaviour and put these toxic people to where they should be long (Jail).

Even with all this coming to light; people will still watch and support the industry.

These girls are fodder to so many of you.

Makes you wonder just how much more dark stuff in Japan, behind all Japanese great services and products there is a lot of suffering in the background.
I do hope the new generations of Japanese can change this toxic culture

Wow! This was very interesting.
It seems like Korea is the only country that really figured this idol thing out. And even though there’s a lot if similarities, e.g. in the area of parasocial relationships, the Japanese and Korean idol scenes couldn’t be more different.

While Korea uses Kpop as a cultural tool to break into both the eastern and western markets and just basically spread its culture, the Japanese idol scene (it’s not Jpop is it? Is this another difference?) serves a very specific, niche audience and cause.

I think there's a kind of willful ignorance or self-deception. Among everyone involved. The idols convince themselves that they are following their dreams and that either things would improve or somehow it's worth it regardless.

The fans convince themselves that even though they hear bad things about the idol industry, that maybe things aren't that bad for "their" idols. Especially when they idols are all doing their best to appear happy. Or maybe they see the fact that they are "supporting" the idols as somehow "rescuing" them.

And maybe even the boss-man convinces himself that these girls have to be put through hardships in order to achieve their dreams. Or that they should be willing to put up with it because being an idol is, in itself, so great.
