Could the UK have geothermal energy?

Somehow I imagine the Nimbys will do everything they can to block this too.

Oil giants won't let it happen

Geothermal has much better long term potential compared to intermittent wind power. But so many people are now deluded about fossil fuels. We are totally reliant on them to maintain any resemblance to our way of life. So why not duel purpose new wells? Frack for gas and when the well has been exhausted, convert it to geothermal. Low impact and low carbon.

Not without perpetual taxpayer funded subsidies.

Still a firm believer in Coal for electricity but also Natural Gas has it’s place for making Hydrogen and being used for cooking but if geothermal can be reliable and robust way of producing energy I am all for it.

Just build houses under ground then they dont need heating
