Absolutely love this film, such a beautiful score. It's aged well. Glad Hawke takes pride in it's creation all these years later
ОтветитьI just rewatched it. I was curious to know if it was still holding up 25 years after I first saw it. It absolutely does. The acting is great and give it 25 years or so and I'm sure we'll have to deal with the same issues, namely eugenics and the discrimination that can ensue, again. That movie stayed with me throughout the years just like 1984 did. Highly recommended!
ОтветитьYes, GATTACA is a stunningly beautiful film. For me, the love story really is between Jerome and Vincent.
ОтветитьAgree 100% I need to re-watched it again
ОтветитьAnd to think it was the director's first film...
ОтветитьOh man I love this movie. This truly was the best movie I never saw.
ОтветитьI saw it when it came out. I enjoyed it.
ОтветитьI enjoyed this video. This is a top three favorite movie of mine. It was released on 4k blu-ray recently (9 months ago?); it looks & sounds the best it ever has. I now own the DVD, Blu-ray & 4k Blu-ray version of this movie. 😝😁
ОтветитьThe best movie you never saw
ОтветитьThe non-diegetic synthetic soundtrack combined with the splashing sounds of Anton struggling in the water is a very symbolic part of the movie. It is coupled with Vincent’s reveal that he never left anything for the swim back.
ОтветитьI saw this in my biology class and it was cool
ОтветитьFor anyone who wants their baby to be blond, blue-eyed and intelligent, ever heard of Jeffrey Dahmer? He was blond, blue-eyed and VERY intelligent which is how he was able to elude the authorities for so long.
ОтветитьI don't remember what grade but I was lucky enough to have a teacher that showed us this movie one day. One of my favorites to this day.
ОтветитьIn my top 10 movies of all time, #1 for soundtrack! Exquisite set and costume design, casting and cinematography/lighting😍
ОтветитьMost human have no taste. That is why most people havent watched it
ОтветитьThis movie is deep on so many levels. It is the Quintessential Film in regard to pushing a human to the extreme on both sides. Vincent was told the only way he could get inside a space shuttle is if it was cleaning it… his father was right and very very wrong. His boss didn’t have a violent bone in his body but killed when necessary for the mission. This movie is among my top 5 favorite of all time and I say this with zero hyperbole. If the climax was anything other than swimming I think it’d be up there with the simpletons but I’m glad it’s not. They weren’t the intended audience.
I really enjoy reading the comments.
It really sucks that we've had major, significant movies, warn us about all kinds of dystopias for 30-40 years now, and people just never internalized and thought about any of them.
These were, and are, warnings for us, and noone is doing anything to prevent them, because the global discussion around improving things never actually touches on the important things.
That discussion has become real reality tv instead, and that really sucks.
I was a teen when this movie came out. I absolutely loved it. It has always been one of my favorites. It was ahead of its time. I remember thinking that this seemed so far in the future that it couldnt happen. How wrong i was. Now i think it would win an oscar for sure. It has so much relevance and is so beautiful.
ОтветитьI saw it when it first came out. So change the title 😅
ОтветитьThis movie hits home with me , I was very lucky as a young man , wasn't born with any deficiency, but sadly my brother was , we are twins , he had crossed eyes , bad eye sight , weak bones , skin allergy , weak lungs , he had everything going against him , but he never let that affect him , when he see me do something he would too , he pushed himself so much that other than his crossed eyes nothing is noticeable , he is build like a tank , high IQ , unbelievable stamina , super fast when it comes to sprinting , brilliant artist. I am truly blessed , if you are reading this and ever feel you are weak or are not worth , please donot think that what lies beneath you is pure talent , all it requires is patience and effort.Have a good day.
ОтветитьOne of my favorite movies for sure!
ОтветитьI saw it in my sophmore biology class and I think everyone else slept through it and I was like "guys this film is....11/10"
ОтветитьJude Law's performance was also great. This movie is beautiful, smart and all around perfect. No modern movie can match this
ОтветитьI became an airplane mechanic because of this movie. All my life I wanted to go to space but I'm not the smartest I even got left back a grade and took learning disabled classes. But I got into the aviation industry (took me 3 times to get my A&P mech license) and I'm trying to break into space tourism (Space X, Virgin Galactic, Blue Origin) Afterall part of being an aviation mechanic is test flights. Every day I feel like an imposter I just hope no one finds out I'm not smart I just don't give up.
ОтветитьBut i did see it
ОтветитьOne of my favourite movie of all time
ОтветитьMy favorite movie
ОтветитьAmazing story writing, directing, character development, casting, score, you name it. A movie that makes you think after it's over is the best trait of a great movie
ОтветитьFantastic film: definitely in my top 5. The music is beautiful too.
ОтветитьI had to recently watch this movie in my ENG 101 class in college. I quite enjoyed it, it's a great film. I watched it for the first time in 2024. Considering it came out in 97 it looked great, was shot really well, and the soundtrack was awesome. It aged really well, I didn't even think about it as a 30 year old film. If it came out today it would still be great.
ОтветитьIf this movie came out today i think it would be a shoe in for beat picture. It blows everything thats been made in the last decade out of the water.
ОтветитьThe chiastic structure of Gattaca makes it, IMHO, one of only a few perfect movies.
The Godfather, Gandhi, Gattaca, and The Way Back.
One of my favorite movies as well, It really stands the test of time
ОтветитьOne of my top 5 of all time
ОтветитьYes! Totally underrated!
My hs physics teacher showed it to my class a decade ago and I make a point to rewatching every few years. The final swim of chicken vs Anton is one of the most inspiring scenes I’ve ever seen!
My favorite film of all time
ОтветитьThis movie just ages like fine wine. It's commentary on science and capitalism is peak
ОтветитьTop 100 movies of all time
ОтветитьI've been a huge fan of this movie since I saw it in early 2000s
ОтветитьI just watched this. Wow. What a trip. Great film!
ОтветитьI managed to save this one for 27 years, amidst a sea of mediocre crap.
Can you imagine? It’s like finding a 1978 Lemmon Quaalude in 2024
The feel of this movie reminds me of Ex Machina. Both movies are engaged in myth-making - exploring human nature through the art of story telling.
ОтветитьAw, I miss Ernest Borgnine
ОтветитьYour wrong. I did watch that movie.
ОтветитьThis was the first movie that I ever cried over. It's such a powerful film for anyone that didn't fit in in the '90s and had to struggle through sheer will to survive. I still can't watch it without crying.
ОтветитьThis movie hits too close to the bone for me: I grew up being told I was going to be small and I never believed them. I never will
ОтветитьThis is one of my top 5 movies of all time. I only came across it on Amazon a few years ago. The story, the music; wow.
ОтветитьPossibly one of the greatest Sci-Fi movies ever made. It's also timelessly designed, having that alternate-reality film-noir look. Like Dark City.
It starts and ends with a theme, sticks to it, and shows instead of telling the pains Vincent went through to prove his worth. And the best part is he kept it secret, so he was just doing it for himself. He didn't need to prove it to anybody else. He went through hell and back to go to the stars because he wanted to do it and wouldn't accept that it wasn't possible. There's no genetic marker for will power.
