The first time I watched this movie I was feeling sleepy by the end, not because the movie was boring but because it was late at night and I was tired from work. When Rambo started his monologue, it completely grabbed my attention and the sleepy feeling disappeared... At that moment I felt like the colonel, just standing there in silence, listening to every word that Rambo had to say, feeling shocked and not knowing how to react. It's such a powerful scene. I realized then that this wasn't just an action movie, it was more than that.

Stallone’s vulnerability in this scene and how the movie’s sudden pivot from brazen violence to a man’s trauma induced breakdown is a testament to Stallone’s innate sense of finding the beating heart of these characters and advocating for their humanity in each story he pens and contributes to.

Originally Rambo was supposed to die at the end of this scene. I’m glad the writers changed it lol.👊🏾

What a poignant scene. Love it

If I EVER run into someone who I know or find out spit on our Vietnam Warriors, you better run like the cowards you are. I'm not playing.

And to all the Vietnam Veterans who are reading this... Welcome Home

This scene, and the final moments where the song “a long road” made me cry. As hellish as war could be, for Rambo there was an odd level of sanity in it all. Of course he lost many friends along the way, but at least he stuck to honorable things like comradeship and a sense of professionalism when he used million dollar equipment. But it’s when he comes home arrives the true dread of it all, that is outside of the battlefield there is nothing for Rambo. The things left for Rambo is a photo of dead friends, shitty part time jobs, and no future. The path for Rambo until the sequel is long, lonely and sad
