I enjoy seeing the failure pictures. I learn more from those than perfection. I also like street photography that identifies a place. I want to prefer black and white but I rarely do!
ОтветитьThat's one with the ladies walking that was my favourite the form of 3s and they were all in step !😊😊
ОтветитьThe kids in BW
ОтветитьBoth together….
ОтветитьProof that shooting in Jpeg is fine.
ОтветитьIt was a great workshop and I learnt a lot. Seeing how you select through the images you’ve taken is very helpful. I’m not generally a fan of black and white photography but I can see how that choice is adding to the moment by taking away some of the busyness. Many thanks Mike.
ОтветитьCameras dont take pictures, but photo editing does
ОтветитьB/W I think is better when people’s faces are predominantly in the frame and when deep shadows are part of the composition. Hence your decisions using B/W was spot on.
ОтветитьThanks for this Mike, sometimes we shoot for hours and think about all the rejects which we have. You have shown us that it's the normal process. Thank you.
ОтветитьHi Mike, loved this video. It shows that although you are a professional photographer you still go through a process and we all need to take shots to find the right shot. But my biggest takeaway from this is the fact that although the 18-55 lens you use is sort of classed as a kit lens (although an amazing lens) you show that you don’t need the all singing all dancing top of the range lenses to get the shot. Many people myself included feel the pressure of I need the latest and best to be a better photographer. However, we all need to learn the basics. Let’s face it without the photographer a camera whatever price is just a box with a bit of glass on the front. Keep up the great work Mike you are an inspiration to us all.
ОтветитьYou can’t beat B&W for images in The City of London.
ОтветитьTime wil learn what is a good photo. How many good digital images wil survive time. Harddisks don't.
ОтветитьThese are the ones we DO want to see!
ОтветитьI love these videos. Simple things that just 'work' in life, like clothes lines and shoe horns, always inspire me and similarly I loved the uncompromising learning experience of arriving home and having to delete 99% of photos I took :)
The next step has been sharing my pictures publicly. Now that I have a 'gallery' on Instagram etc, it sets a nice natural standard for my future pictures. Making it even easier to separate wheat from chaff in future photo opportunities.
I still delete maybe 98% of pictures I take. But that's an improvement on 99%!
I'm only a hobbyist with the camera. It's simply adding fun to things I enjoy anyway (walking in town or country, meeting different strangers, creating 'vignettes' etc). Lovely.
Thanks for the video. As an amateur sports photographer I have to be very selective with what I give people. I've had teams complain that I've only given them 50 shots out of 700, but that's a decent hit rate and more than I really want to give them anyway. I've had to explain a number of times that using what I think are bad shots, just to hit a number they want, does me no favours at all as a photographer and I won't "hide" the really good stuff by chucking scores of junk into the pile. It's a cardinal sin for me when I see other amateurs chucking hundreds of badly composed, soft, pics up online.
ОтветитьFor some situations, for me at least, monochrome works a lot better. The eye always looks around the scene in the image and usually gravitates to prominent parts of the image. If the image is in colour, the eye could gravitate away from the actual point of interest and chase prominent colours. Whereas, with monochrome, there are no distracting colours and the eye focuses on the main subject of the image. A case in point is Ansel Adams. Although he took nearly as many colour images as black and white, he is best remembered for black and white. The pure majesty of El Capitan in black and white would have been lost if the image was in colour.
ОтветитьReally enjoyed this ... your honest approach to it .Nice one Mike !!
ОтветитьYour comment on the ladies on the bridge, taking a photo for Instagram only. It reminded me of a conference - 55 years ago - of a then well-known Dutch solo artist. (Quote;) "Then all those people go on holiday and take their instant camera with them. They take pictures throughout the holiday to see at home what they could have seen THERE." (end quote) As far as the ladies are concerned...nothing new under the sun...right?
Ответить😂😢
ОтветитьStarted following because of the macro reverse ring from 11 years back and now can't stop watching the channel 😅
ОтветитьAs a rule, I prefer the black and white images as there are less distractions
ОтветитьDifferent kind of video. Enjoyed it sir. Keep it up 👍
ОтветитьMike, Happy New Year! I prefer the black and whites over the color. There’s something timeless about B&W. IMHO🤷♂️
Ответитьthank you Mike for all your videos excellent work I've learnt a lot and so the newer members in my camera club by watching your videos📸👋🍻

Ответить@mikebrowne you haven't put out a video in awhile. Is everything ok?
ОтветитьI love this kind of photography but since I've moved from Glasgow Uk To Baltimore MD USA,
it can be a bit of a challenge to not get at best some guarded funny looks to downright take my picture and die kind of moments of the day,
Mike, we miss you. Where are you? Hope you’re well!
ОтветитьI can't believe that I have only just found your channel: great stuff, thank you!
ОтветитьI just seen my first vid of yours and it was Focal length from 11 years ago. I'm 60, T2 disbetes and I watched a guy huffing and puffing and wiping away sweat, doing nothing. I thought, " Either, he's lost weight, or his DEAD! ". GREAT to see your alive and You've lost weight, YEAAAA!!!!! Congratulations.
ОтветитьThe first one is my choice, Mike. Keep up the good work.
ОтветитьWhat I struggle with is how to choose if to take or prefer a photo in BW or colours. I'd take aways BW photos.
For some reason, every BW picture has something of fascinating to me. I can't say the same for colours images. How come?
Is Mike ok? Not posted anything in a while
ОтветитьPurchased today Nikon P1000 I hope its worth, at least for hobby..
ОтветитьWe miss your videos!Do more pls
ОтветитьMiss your videos sir 😢
ОтветитьHow do you handle model and property releases for street photography?
Ответитьdo you delete photos that you don't use?
ОтветитьIt appears to be some time since your last video. I hope you are ok.
ОтветитьAny new videos planned for 2025?
ОтветитьAre you ok sir? No videos nowadays. Hope you are doing better.
ОтветитьWhat happened to Mike. Hasn’t done a video in over a year.
ОтветитьWhere is Mike?? . not a single video in a year??
ОтветитьThank you Mike, been following you since I started my photography journey.
ОтветитьIn my opinion, changing these images to B&W was the right call. Doing so eliminated distractions and helped focus attention on the subject more effectively. In many of the photos, the colors didn't really work well together. I feel changing them to B&W removed this problem making it easier to enjoy the photos and to better understand them. However, I do think the photos of the dancers work well in color. The scene is basically neutral with some blue and rusty orange-red, which are a complimentary color scheme.
