How do you reclass characters and keep them alive long enough to get exp? With how fights scale I have like 2 units that can solo the map, 2-3 that can survive at least 2 turns, then everyone else just gets wiped out on enemy phase. Clearly I'm doing something wrong, just not sure what.

Ike is just good I think you put him on almost anyone and you're going to have a good time. I put Ike on Merrin as Griffin Knight with Hurricane Axe and also Geniality+ for ultra tank + flyer destruction.

If you're willing to put the time in, the weak lil' healer is almost always the most OP character in any given Fire Emblem game.

Since FE Awakening, villagers with the good growth skill are always the most broken characters in the FE series. It’s a promise

Jean's dream was to become a brilliant doctor....not a beserker..i can't be doing this. I protect lil boy and in turn he keeps us healthy and im happy with that 😊

Quick correction to something here that I didn't see in the comments already:

You should always, always use master seals to promote a unit before you 2nd seal. If you use the 2nd seal 1st, you have to spend 20 levels in a base class. In Jean's case, you spend 10 levels in monk and 10 levels in fighter before you can be a berserker. The promotion path would look like this:
10 levels in Monk -> 2nd Seal to level 1 fighter -> 10 levels in fighter -> Master Seal to Berserker

However, if you promote him at level 10 to an advanced class, you can 2nd seal him immediately to berserker as there is no level requirement for 2nd seal use once you are promoted. This would totally bypass the 10 levels he has to spend as a fighter and because engage moderates exp gains based off an internal level counter, he would actually gain exp faster as a level 1 berserker with this method. Promotion path would look like this:
10 levels in Monk -> Master Seal to Martial Master -> (without levelling) 2nd Seal to Berserker.

The change in growths would get him a 20% higher strength growth for the 10 levels he would have spent in fighter and 10% higher growths in HP and Build. It also gets him access to better weapons sooner and an extra point of movement which is nice>

This tip is true for every character and not just Jean, so it's useful to know. Small tip for promoting aside, I really enjoyed the video! This is a funny build and it looks like it works great, especially if you get him some forges and engravings on those weapons. I bet a forged tomahawk would be incredibly rude here.

I am confused. How did you promote him from Martial Monk at level 1 to Axe Fighter? Did I miss something?

So when you say do level him up. are you meaning do play him until we can do the class change? To keep him at level one? Or can we play him just don’t change anything until class changes?

Normally, i dont care for this stuff. I watch it just to see what happens. I also simultaneously get anxity that i "built my character wrong." You're gental reinforcing of "maddening difficulty" helped remind me im playing on a lower difficulty, im doing just fine right now, (my Jean practicly one hits on normal, as mage, with soren) and i should enjoy the show.

I made my Jean a Swordmaster with the Lyn Ring and gave him a Brave Sword. He has so much speed, that with the Brave Sword and Alacrity, he can attack 4 times before the enemy can even attack once.

why does equiping tiki give all those extra stat growth percenteges? is it from starsphere?

I much prefer General Jean with Hector. Give him starsphere early. Give him hit+ and a mohawk he will be the go to tank.

I made my Jean a Halberdier and equipped him with the Emblem Of Rivals bracelet, and boy he’s amazing! Before I gave him Brionac he was equipped with a killer lance, a Rivals Engraved Silver lance, and a spear, and he usual took out everything that stood in his way. But when I gave him Brionac he was a one man army.

Ike once again taking over the protag role as best unit. Is anyone surprised?

I found out that Great Aether will automatically taunt every enemy when you cast it because of the 100% get hit rate you put on yourself. So having someone with Lucina and Bonded Shield will help block most of the damage. The enemies only attack the Lucina unit if the Ike unit is surrounded and they cannot find a position to hit them, which is not likely to happen. This combo is my favourite to clean map and farm exp. It helps to have the unit using Lucina to have high avo so they don’t get targeted. Also helps to have Soren’s skill to force a unit to be targeted.

I made mine a high priest and he's got level-ten bonds with all the other 6 Rings not only can he use magic in fisticuffs but he can heal himself with his own staffs and he has that ability where if someone uses a weapon he can counter by picking the best weapon against there watching this little kid punch armored units been dodging crazy then I gave him a scroll with that seal that gives him avoid 40 +In for a level and mine up I used the rings ability ultimate sacrifice cuz it levels them up buy 1 each time it's used and heals all the other team but you got to let it run out and then run over to a blue circle to re fill it fast

Jean was my most OP Unit, I wasn't even trying. This was in maddening.

Panette > Jean

Oh yeah, this was pretty much my first thought when seeing the Ike ring. Not on Jean, I actually kept him as a martial master because I thought it was fun to see him kick the crap out of enemies and he’s one of the few units who can pull off the weird way Arts scale for damage, but I slapped it immediately on Panette and I would warp her into clumps of enemies with a great axe and watch her delete them like it was nothing

So I made my Jean a spear paladin with Ike emblem. I had starsphere for the extra stat growth and he's now my powerhouse. He's more tanky than a general at times

I'll try this on my second playthrough.

As much as I want to think about this, I have not used Jean at all, AND I want to follow his purpose of being a doctor. So…why bother?

I try to get everyone Lineage and Starsphere, as well as Canto and Speed +3.

Why is the hero shield so dang small in this game 😢 them and sword masters use to be my favorites now they look meh. Granted I haven’t used a sword master yet in engage can’t decide who to make one

Theres several units that are strong contenders for halberdier (pincir attack is busted), but because most units personal skills don't do much in engage, jean has them beat. He has similar stats to halberdier alfred, except his dex growth is insanely high

I just started the game and have been grinding for three days straight for this build…

Its a funny build Ill give you that, but I think another weakness this build has is a lack of counter from Thunder mages/sages. I could see myself making this build but I'd never run it without some support.

Jean is the only character in the game who can hit 80 speed growth. He can be even faster than the likes of framme, chloe, and lapis who can only reach 75

Tiki’s Lifesphere+ skill is great for counter tanking with high Hp. Just use Wait and heal 40% of your max Hp for free. Assuming you’re taking other units into the battle, the character you’re tanking with this way shouldn’t have to deal with more than 3-5 enemies a turn so you can let them loose on one half of the battle while the rest of your units clear the other half.

I did this with Anna as a Warrior with Tiki. Gave her Ravanache+4 with Lyn’s engraving for what seemed like a 70% crit ratio despite it saying 35~%. Then gave her a Tomahawk+3 for when mages and/or archers were approaching. Anna alone killed like 65% of the enemies in my first playthrough and earned easily over 150k gold in the process
