I loved the video. The first one I watched of yours. I am ready to cut the cord and have already tried several services. Most recent Philo. Here is my issue. I just bought OTA antenna. Now I need to figure out how to dvr the content. I have been researching and came across Tablo 4th Generation OTA DVR. But it only supports 2 tuners. Any suggestions?

Also to save money on internet especially for seniors, government housing programs, social security recipients, etc.. consider the Affordable Connectivity Program from the government through the FCC. They can greatly reduce your monthly rate for internet usage through most of the major providers. Watch the e providers though if you rent the modem from them as mine just tried to jack up the rates saying I had come to the end of a contract for the equipment, but after stating I never had said discount in print I was offered a new middle of the road rate. They will continue to get you to pay one way or another.

I don't use wifi internet, I use a hard wire (cable) for internet. I have the option to use wifi, but try not to because I get vestibular migraines if I'm around it for long. Is it possible to stream with a hardwire connection?

This is very helpful. I have been wanting to switch to streaming, mostly because the channel selections with Dish and other cables companies is lousy. So many channels that I don't want to watch. My hesitation to switching to streaming is that I am not techie at all and am very nervous about trying to figure it all out.

Hi Michael, I’m ready to cut the cable cord. Right now I have Frontier as my provider and my contract expires next month. So I’m looking at xfinity for internet service. I have an old digimate dgl2700 tv and want to convert it to a smart tv. Don’t want to buy a new smart tv. I’m not sure what to buy to convert this tv. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello, I definitely want to cut the cord. I have Roku attached to one TV then verizon cable box on my other TV. Verizon is above $170 now this is outrageous. You may have answered this before but Question: with the streaming apps can you use the on demand feature?

I have an outdoor antenna going into a distribution amplifier and then into three TVs. I haven’t for TV for 14 years and between that and the Samsung TV Plus, it’s really all I need and I’ve saved over $12,000. I did miss having a couple channels, but it’s easier to do without when you don’t have that cringeworthy bill coming in every month.

I don't have cable or Internet. I'm retired and don't need either. As long as I can file my income tax return on my phone, I don't need anything else. I do my taxes on my phone. Or I can go to the library. People have cable and hardly watch tv. That's a waste of money big time.

2024 tv…wake up in the morning turn on your tv, wait 5 mins for your smart tv to load all the garbage, scroll to the streaming app you want to watch, wait 5 mins for all the garbage to load, scroll through the horrible guide to find your local channel. 1990s tv…turn on your tv your local channels are already playing.

Several years ago I was paying Comcast $234.00 a month for cable tv, phone, and internet service. I had been a Comcast customer since the 1980's. But, enough was enough. I dropped cable tv, kept the internet service and signed up for streaming services. I was still paying about $100.00 a month for internet service. But, lately AT&T fiber has come to my neighborhood. Now I'm paying half as much for twice the speed and lovin it.

We are interested in regional sports networks for the most part. What is my best bet for the best, stable picture for watching our favorite teams? The service we watch now is choppy and sometimes lags. Direct TV Streaming?

Cutting the cord, great title, but consider the alternative. I know people that pay 2x or at the very least 1.5x what cable would be and it’s only going to get worst. I personally don’t have cable since 2006 but I’m very disciplined in making sure that I pause or stop a subscription all together if there is something else elsewhere I want to watch if it falls outside of my regular subscriptions. All I’m saying, is think about it.

Most people don't realize you can just unscrew the cable. I can't understand why you would cut the cord. You might need a wrench or pliers if it's screwed on tight, but it's not hard to disconnect. Then you can always connect something else if you want to.

I’ve found that most streaming services that offer it for free if you want the last few seasons of it you have to pay for it. If I could find a streaming service with reasonable fees that offered both nat geo wild and animal planet all seasons included I’d grab that up in a heartbeat. Do you know of anything that offers those 2 channels?

Thanks, Michael! I use Dish TV, which is expensive, but I can record my favorite show using their HOPPER. I now have a Roku, too. If I cancel Dish TV, how can I find the last few episodes of my favorite show that I missed? Will I need to subscribe to the app that carries my programs and put it on the Roku platform? Do they keep the last few episodes online for viewing if I miss it?
