World War Weird explains the most mysterious and bizarre events of both the World Wars. In the chaos of battle men claim to have witnessed some of history’s strangest sightings and in the minds of their leaders; ludicrous military plans have been hatched. From unexplained sea monsters spotted by U-boat captains to some of the weirdest weaponry of the Wars, each episode will examine the stories in fascinating detail. Despite decades of research by historians and experts, many accounts still remain a complete mystery. Using de-classified documents and military historians, World War Weird attempts to explain the unexplainable and explore the fascinating history associated with some of the darkest periods in human history.

Aliens Invade:
In Both WW1 and WW2 people have reported seeing strange, unexplained objects in the wartime skies. A sighting in Canada during the Great War causes mass panic with the whole of Ottawa being blackout for 2 nights in a row. But who was attacking them? Germans? Aliens? When the same mass panic strikes the city of LA in WW2 you have to ask whether people are just on edge or there’s something else to these strange encounters?

Churchill’s Dirty Secret:
Winston Churchill, the British hero of WW2 stands accused of the biggest cover up of WW2. Recently declassified documents reveal just how far he was willing to go to get America involved in the war. Spies sent to America to infiltrate every level of society, including legendary writer Roland Dahl! Their job is to sway the isolationist public into backing Britain in the war. But was Churchill willing to go even further? Some investigators now claim he knew the Japanese were planning to attack Pearl harbour but he kept the information to himself…

Monty’s Magic Army:
During WW2’s North Africa campaign, the allies are willing to try anything to defeat the might of the Nazi war machine, even if that means resorting to magic. At the infamous battle of El Alamein in Egypt they pull off one the most complex and mind bending illusions of the war. A magic trick so surprising that one German general drops dead from a heart attack!

The Spy Who Hates Me:
Little did Hitler know, but his own secret service was against him. This is the story of the Abwehr and their idiosyncratic leader Admiral Canaris. Unbeknownst to Nazi High command, Canaris did everything in his power to undermine the regime. Even sending the stupidest spies he could find to Britain, knowing they would get caught and in turn alert the British to Hitler’s planned invasion.
