Call the Midwife, season 12, episode 4.
Cyril accompanies Reggie to his appointment. Dr. Turner asks Reggie several questions about how he’s been feeling. He describes the fatigue, a tingling in his hands, and his hair falling out. Dr. Turner recommends a blood test after the basic physical examination, and he explains that Reggie’s symptoms plus the blood test confirm he has hypothyroidism which means an underactive thyroid. They’re not the same symptoms as hyperthyroidism which is more common. He explains that some people with Downs Syndrome also have hypothyroidism. There isn’t a cure for hypothyroidism but all Reggie needs to feel better is to take 1 pill a day for life. Violet apologizes after the diagnosis because she realized that she knew something was wrong but she jumped to the wrong conclusion.
Reggie is the sweetest man on the show imo. I love him.🥰
ОтветитьThat itchy hand thing is a real symptom for hypothyroidism. It’s one of the first symptoms my mom had before she was diagnosed - her palms itched and the skin started to peel.
ОтветитьMy 20 yo brother has Downs and I so wish he could speak so well...
ОтветитьSee??? Downs Syndrome chap....excellent actor!!! I've known a couple of Downs Syndrome people.....sweet, kind....❤
ОтветитьPoor sweet reggie
Ответить❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьReggie was an interesting character.
ОтветитьHis thyroid was under active. The tests spotted it and he got treatment.
Violet and him had fallen out (she thought he was being lazy and grumpy, as she couldn’t see it was actually he was abnormally tired). She apologised and they made up
Im obsessed with these clips❤
ОтветитьHypothyroidism goes undiagnosed in many people. Estimates are that 1/5 people has hypothyroidism that's untreated. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis which causes hypothyroidism. My Dr told me for 6 years that my symptoms were due to stress and raising children. Constant exhaustion, not being able to stay asleep, joint pain, constipation, dry skin, thinning hair, almost non-existent eyebrows. I put it together myself, saw an amazing endocrinologist and I've been much better for 10+ years. A few more bouts of thyroiditis, but otherwise well.
ОтветитьI was born with Hypothyroidism, but didnt get diagnosed until 6 months due to our Family living in Malaysia at the time. Mum and Dad were told to take me to a Doctor when we ca Mn e back to Australia.
ОтветитьI want Kiki Merch with
"Add it to the list:
on it....
I can confirm that usually they have better humor than other people do 😂❤
ОтветитьThat's why you don't lie to children.
ОтветитьIt took me collapsing in the grocery store to get my hypothyroidism diagnosed. My daughter was 9 months old, and basically, all of my symptoms for months were just assumed to be due to being a new first-time mother.
ОтветитьSo wonderful to see characters like Reggie being seen and heard 👍
ОтветитьThis man is wonderful! ❤❤
ОтветитьThere has been many case where I have observe people complain about tingling in hand or involuntary movement for month and then having a massive heart attack, something that Doctors need to be aware of,as well as acid reflux not treated for years affects the heart.Acid reflux is very serious ,fatigue are signs something is going on with there body.
ОтветитьWhat a wonderful young man, as an actor & as a human being ❤❤❤❤
Ответить😢😢😢😢
ОтветитьThe young man who plays Reggie does such a great job!👍
ОтветитьDefinitely had horrible itching feeling (neuropathy) and it hurts and sucks
ОтветитьOh, okay, we're crying today, thats fine.
ОтветитьThis young man is an excellent person and Actor. He is a sweet person not a disability.....❤❤❤
ОтветитьI have never seen nor heard a person with Downs Syndrome who had a British accent.
ОтветитьIs this Chris Burke? If it is, he's been an actor since the 80's. I'm glad he's still acting.
ОтветитьI feel the same way
ОтветитьIs that Corky?
ОтветитьHey, I have hypothyroidism! I don’t have Down syndrome, but I was born with an under active thyroid, nearly killed me. I wasn’t diagnosed until I was about nine, and it got really bad right before I started treatment. Thankfully, while hypothyroidism is a bitch, especially when you develop it pre adulthood, it is completely manageable with a single pill a day for the rest of one’s life. Just, you HAVE to take the pill. Even just a month off can cause hospitalization for some.
ОтветитьI miss my son (passed away from cancer) who was DS - seeing this young man reminds me of my son.
I love the gentle natures and humor of DS people.
❤
