Based to have a 45.70 I even deer hunted with it. I used a CPX3 ( harder biullet) so it didn't expand very much and didn't do all that much damage to the deer.

Red dot sight imo doesn’t have a place on a guide gun. Just another thing to malfunction when you need it most. I’ll stick with my iron sights when moving through heavy brush. Another thing is I have a few level actions but leave them home when moving through bear country, I carry an 870 Remington 12 gauge which I’ve owned for nearly 50 years.

Red dot...elecronic...right ? Switch to turn it on....right ? If you know the bear will come you can turn it on. If not ???

If you’re a reloader and you can pickup a Browning or Winchester or one of the other manufacturers of the 1886 they will out perform the Marlin as one difference is 1886 can hold 50,000 psi where the marlin max is 40,000 psi both good weapons but I chose the 1886 browning and I’m not sorry even though I own a 1972 marlin also

Not true i live in alaska...most people here have. 223,30/30, 308 and yes the ole british 303. only people from the lower 48 carry silly things like this just an old 12 gauge will work when you're fishing.

1895GS - 18.5" bbl, 405 grains of semi jacketed soft point @ 1500 does the job. There are faster loads but them'res fer distance. These are Woodleigh bullets that only open up when ejected from the muzzle at over 1700 fps. Up close n' personal like, they act like a hardcast for penetration. Like Ron says, it'll put the hurt on an attacking bahr.
